What is even with it? Is their a set algorithm? Played a 10 3v3X games with my doubles partner… We won 8 in a row… The last 2 games we got in with a chump and lost… My partner who played the same games as me, got diamond 5, I got platnium 3… How does that make sense??? We played hard, same matches but not equal ranking??? I know I was historically lower ranks, but like what? More than a full level difference? This is complete BS!!! I was pushing onyx before, now I can’t even get diamond, after one (admittedly poor) season??? Like why… Check my service record!!! 8-2 wins against many diamonds, yet plat 3??? Disgrace… What is the math behind this? Let me know!!!
It’s not just your performance during placement matches that dictates your placing, it’s your MMR. It’s a hidden value associate to your account and is specific to each playlist. This value does not reset every season the way CSR does. I don’t know the specifics of the algorithm but I do know that your placement/progress last season heavily influences your future placements.

That’s insane, but explains a lot… No point in improving… Only makes sens to make Smurf accounts… I’m just floored by that… So hard to and slow to move up after placement… I can’t believe I wasted so many hours on this game… Just really disappointed… I know I’ll never be champion, or even onyxonyx the fact I’ll be stuck in platnium virtually forever… I knew Microsoft, Halo, 343 and creative whatever the -Yoink- there called, sucked but this is insane … Way to downgrade old players… So sorry I ever recommended this game…

actually having my mmr carrying over is really helpful, if you played well in the season before (for example I played around 15 games in x3v3 last season and ended up in diamond) but as soon as I was done with my 10 placements I ranked into mid onyx. Meaning you can get significantly higher than your rank last season.
Also if you only play with the same people you will end up at the same csr/mmr it’s only because they got wins without you.
