I have noticed that a lot of unranked players will quit out once their team starts losing. Which led me to thinking - does quitting mean that your match doesn’t count as a loss when playing the placement matches? If so, 343 really should patch this. Theoretically, I could quit every match that I start losing, keep the ones I win and get a full 10/10. Then I’d end up a much higher rank than I should be.
Although I don’t know why anyone would want to do this, playing out of your league isn’t fun.

No, actually. It behaves a lot like previous titles that had ranks from what I’ve heard.
I think Bravo said at one point that quitting ranked matches can severely affect your rank, even in placement. but I can no longer remember where.
Could always ask someone on twitter, Bravo could probably clarify.

It does not count to your placement games. Quitting prevents loss, saw a lot of opponents do that and they havent lost a placement game when I found them again.
I did an experiment on this to see for myself. The season before I was ranked Diamond in Slayer. I decided to leave a game if my team was going to lose, and ultimately “won” 10/10 of my placing matches. I generally was the top and second player, but was third or fourth for a few (less than half). I ended up getting placed Gold, and have since only worked my way back up to Platinum as I just don’t care to play. I also did the same thing in reverse so see if I could intentionally get placed low. I quit every game that my team was going to win, or I sabotaged the game so that we would lose. I should note that I had to quit considerable less games this time around, and I also felt awful for intentionally making my team lose, but anything in the name of science I suppose. I ended up getting ranked Silver this time. It was murderous to play against me at this rank, and I moved completely through Silver and into Gold in one day, and through Gold and into Platinum the next. So, I can honestly say that I believe quitting does negatively affect your place matches, and I can also say that the system seems to correct itself fairly quickly. In 2 days I was back to playing against people I was normally skilled with, and the only way to prevent that is to suffer considerable, and consistent loss.

Also, for those who wish to tell me that i’m wrong and that quitting has no adverse affect on your placement, show me your proof. What have you done aside from speculate to prove this?
Quitting (or even lagging out like I had happen to me) does not count as a loss in your placement matches but it most definitely effects your ranking. I lagged out of two placements matches last month and placed in silver 3 (normally I’m a high gold or a platinum). Felt bad wrecking the kids in silver while I ranked back up.
