Placed Champ 3 in Elimination after 10 games?

Soooooo…did this happen again? I know we weren’t supposed to rank above a 1700 in a playlist after your placement matches, however Elimination just put me at a Champ 3 (2163CSR) after my 10 matches.

Is this an issue like before? Are the ranks going to turn around and reset again because of it? Would rather not waste my time in a playlist grind if it’s just going to be gone tomorrow.

Edit - Saw this shortly after posting. Ranks will not reset and it is intentional.

> Those CSRs are all correct. The difference is that for the initial roll out of TrueSkill 2, we are placing players exactly at their MMR. Usually we artificially pull you back at least 100 CSR, to a max of 1700. This time we’re placing right at exact. We’ll probably change it back next season, but at this point it may be unfair to the rest. (UPDATE: I mean, it would be unfair to change it mid-season without a reset).

Lucky you… I was a champ in breakout last season win all my games and go positive get diamond 3…

Yeah I’ve also heard it takes into account your kd, fireteam sizes, your teammates ranks, and the enemy’s ranks. On top of that you can earn a high playlist rank but your MMR doesn’t follow up as quick.

I was a high Champ for multiple seasons and destroyed kids in Extermination, so my MMR under the Breakout gamemode is really high. Even with a bad previous season (mid 1500s) it was due to smurphs dropping my raise k much harsher than I’d go up for 5 or 6 wins, but I’d still perform well so the one season didn’t really drop my overall MMR.

The playlist was a clean start, Breakout and Exterm MMR didn’t apply.

Really? I assumed that it’d utilize Breakout MMR. So I’m wondering, based on my playing vs someone else that played with me for all 10 games, what would’ve substantiated the gap of him earning a low 1600 vs me getting a 2163? I’m just wondering if k/d really does matter that much or if it’s simply because there’s a massive spread on the first 10 matches calculating skill?

That was our guess too so we asked for clarification:

> Neither, it’s brand new to avoid confusion with previous stats on Waypoint. But TrueSkill 2 is fast enough to figure everyone out quick. TrueSkill 2 will use your performance in every other playlist to set this.

This is madness and awfully calculated why completely refresh the ranks. Many players such as myself have grinded for hours and hours to get to champ. It’s not like we’re going to be awful just because extermination and original breakout have now joined the playlist.

Because it’s a new playlist. If you’re champ quality, you should be able to get back there no problem.

It’s a long grind from diamond 3 and the amount of people getting champ, I don’t think it will stay 1800 for long…

It’s not supposed to be a grind. It’s a skill based system, not grind based.

I think he meant it’s grind-based due to the majority of higher players getting hit by smurph accounts, which cause us to lose 25 points on average for a loss while wins only give 3-5 if we’re lucky. As of right now, all of my wins after I ranked give me 1 CSR, meaning my losses will be about 28 or 29 points. It sucks in that perspective.

But thanks for the clarification. So, does this mean in other playlists that my MMR for that playlist will come up immediately based off just that playlists’ stats? Or is it by gametype? I’d hate to see that I could rank ridiculously high in like Halo WC by having some decent games, but my overall kd is fairly huge and I happen to play well those games.
