I would say we will have to fight both precursors and forunners, if not in halo 4, atleast in the trilogy both will be fought. But ofcourse, forunner creations will be enemies too!!!
If I were guessing which would be released today, my money is on precurssor.

By Halo 6, every single faction in the Halo universe has to have an all-out war for Earth. Literally so much combat the skies are choked up and the sky is pitch black with all the ships fighting over Earth.
But that wont be for another eight/nine years or so…
