With monday literally right around the corner, and after a year of speculation and countless theories and predictions, who do you think the Ancient Evil is?
Russians
The Egyptians?
But seriously my guess is a small faction of forerunners.
Not a damn clue. but, I want to fight the Forerunners.
3 cookies for something completely new.
-SPOILER ALERT!-
Why would the forerunners fight their offspring? not only is it in the halo legends story line that the forerunners take interest in the human species, but in the end of halo 3 it emphasizes that the chief IS forerunner, so why the hell would he be fighting forerunners? forerunners like the humans!
I highly doubt that we will be fighting Forerunners. If you have ever read the Halo books and the Halo Encyclopedia you would understand that Humanity the soul heir to the history and tech of the Forerunners and not the Covenant ,and correct me if im wrong but i thought Master Chief was a human!?

That’s why I chose Precursors. It’s much more plausible. Except the only doubts that I have are a specific terminal in Halo CEA(Don’t remember the specific one, the last one I believe) displays the Didact’s emblem and 343 Guily Spark suggests that he is enraged. Who knows.
That last Grunt on the mission Halo in Halo 3.

Actually Forerunners thought the humans were a violent and ungrateful race. If I remember correctly, there was a war 100,000 years ago with pre-historic humans who fought the Forerunners but lost because they were being attacked by them and the flood.
Chief isn’t actually a Forerunner, just a reclaimer, a human. Maybe the Master Builder could be alive and attack Chief for destroying the rings? Doubt it.
I believe Precursors might be the main threat. In the First Look trailer they said the enemy was beyond anything Chief fought before. So I guess Forerunners tie in a bit with the Covenant, and since the enemy is beyond more powerful than the Covies, it must be the Precursors due to their intelligence and their appearance o.O
Plus, they were the most intelligent species in the galaxy. And most deadly advanced…
A species created by the Precursors.
So Precursors as the boss and the new species as the bulk of the army.
Option one for me.

I killed him. Ancient Evil: Extinguished.

You are correct… To an extent. the MC is human. But keep in mind forerunners at also very VERY close to what humans are. And Master Chief is the last DIRECT ancestor of the forerunners. While the human race (the spartan’s in particular) were referred to as reclaimer’s as a whole, because they were the ones truly meant to reclaim the forerunner heritage (go figure) but master chief is at least part forerunner which is what made him the inheritor (or something to that affect, I’m a bit stuffy on the whole story so don’t get mad if I am telling the story wrong) but play halo 3, the last cut scene involving the guilty spark emphasizes that the Master Chief IS forerunner in bloodline.

No, the jerk store is the main enemy. The Grunt is their leader. He mysteriously survived.

I think all humans are capable of working forerunner tech. I think this because Miranda Keyes was forced to activate a Halo sequence in 3, because the covenant could not.
Precursor creation

i am aware, but that is besides my point, i was telling the other person how master chief both is, and really isnt, human, he is forerunner. he is the inheritor, the last of his kind (even the spartan IV’s wont have the background the MC does
> Precursor creation
Ancient evil- Humans had a war with the forerunners a long time ago.
Threatens the entire universe- Forerunners have that technology.
Also master Chief is floating towards a giant forerunner planet in the teaser so I think it’s gonna be forerunners…

How could he be forerunner? Do you mean biologically, or spiritually?
Because if you mean biologically, it is impossible. According to Legends, where humans were re-introduced with all the other life-forms in the galaxy after the Halo activation, the forerunners could not have been around to influence human genetics.
If they did before-hand, then just about every person would be at least part forerunner, through family trees.
All humans are referred to as inheritors, because of their inherit ability to operate forerunner tech. However, MC is called the reclaimer, simply because he was tasked with activating the Halo detonation sequence by 343 Guilty Spark. In reality, any human can be a reclaimer, and all of them are inheritors, Chief is just lucky to stand out from the bunch, in that he is much better suited for the task. (no pun intended)
