Pitch a game about Brutes

Title pretty much explains it. Pitch a game idea that focuses on or strongly features Brutes. Doesn’t have to be a shooter, doesn’t have to use pre-existing characters, doesn’t have to be pre or post Human-Covenant war.

Shangheli vs Jiralane in the early stages of the Covenant.
Or during the Harvest campaign.

A Harvest game would be amazing. It would be an introduction to Avery’s backstory for the people who don’t have the books.

A game that gose need into the brute culture

We need this!

Halo Wars 2 will heavily feature Jiralhanae. They are seen in the trainer and we already know the Spirit of Fire is drifting near the brute’s home system

Don’t think there was any need for that.

And suddenly this has become less about the Brutes and more about Johnson. Still, interesting proposal.

To address the OP, I think something exploring the Jiralhanae’s perspective on the Galaxy post-Covenant war, specifically on the Great Schism. So far we have had nothin exploring the Jiralhanae’s thoughts on the Great Schism, with most perspectives on such being incredibly negative to the point where some Sangheili are hunting down the Jiralhanae to extinction. Even worse, the Jiralhanae are suffering from famine (how they are is baffling since there should realistically be Jiralhanae scientists and workers capable of developing food for the Jiralhanae, given that they were only introduced to the Covenant 60 years prior to Halo: CE. If the Sangheili can adapt despite being reliant on the San’Shyuum for over 2,000 years, surely the Jiralahane can given that they were only reliant on them for 60) and are suffering from intra-species infighting, similar to the Sangheili. Sadly we have had nothing addressing this and there is nothing exploring the morality of the Jiralhanae species post-war and I would most certainly like to see this rectified and have something that gives the Jiralhanae justice as a species and as individuals. Contact Harvest and Last Light treated their main Jiralhanae characters effectively and I’d like to see more of that in the future.

I don’t get what you mean. He’s Waypoint’s resident Brute and Doisac’s ambassador. He’s just trying to come up with a fun game. :frowning:

I’d go for something like Shadow of Mordor; play as a brute who starts off at the very bottom of society who must either kill, bribe, or manipulate their way up the social ladder until they become the alpha. Basically, you’re an alien Littlefinger.

Before being absorbed into the covenant, the brutes had destroyed their own civilization through nuclear war. They were just rediscovering radio when the covenant found them

Radio AND rocketry. You missed an important keyword there. If they were capable of developing rocket based technology prior to their encounter with the Covenant, then there should be at least a few Jiralhanae with knowledge on physics, chemistry, etc. etc.

It would be really interesting to follow the brutes through a campaign.

Your response literally just made me remember that Tartarus had his backstory in Contact: Harvest as well.
It would be really cool to have the gameplay be about the Militia soldiers, and some cutscenes showing what the Brutes/Jackals are doing, similar to Halo Wars’ cutscenes.

Yeah. No MJOLNIR-customization, though-

Fur customization.

Dyes.

… Those skull-cap things they had in Halo 2.

Beautiful.

Right, because that’s what we need right? Stereotyping an entire species as “dumb apes” incapable of proper communication, despite many showings of the a Brutes outright contradicting that? Otherwise,I guess the Sangheili and religious idiots who drop their weapons and charge into battle with energy swords screaming? I guess all the Propehts are evil right? The Unggoy are all stupid and weak, and you get a prize for popping their heads, correct?

Or maybe, let’s just not stereotype an entire race/species/culture. This applies to both fiction AND real life.

Post-Halo 5, it would be interesting to see some sort of Brute resistance against the Created; after all, we know for a fact they won’t submit willingly.

On the contrary, there is a strong chance that the Jiralhanae would be among the first to take up the Created’s offer, considering how there is a species wide famine going on (how is, again, baffling considering how, if they managed to develop rocketry a few decades before their incorporation into the Covenant, then surely they should be able to feed themselves) AND the Sangheili are continuing to Hunt Down the Jiralhanae to extinctions as of 2559 (as seen in the a Return). If your species was being wiped out by vengeful Sangheili, your species staving to death and suddenly someone comes along, offering your species a chance to live, without hunger or pain, without the conflict of war, to uplift you from the infighting plaguing your species, as long as your species submits, I can bet almost anyone would take up that offer. Hell, it parallels the inclusion of the Jiralhanae into the Covenant considering how a few years prior the Jiralhanae had just suffered from the collapse of their civilisation, and now they are in a similar situation.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of pitting the Jiralhanae as enemies, again, through this method as it continues the trend to portray the Jiralhanae in a negative, and likely unsympathetic light (Considering the portrayal of the Created thus far), like the previous Halo games and the majority of stories that feature the Jiralhanae.
