Pistols and grenades

This rant is mainly about Team Slayer as this is the gamemode me and my friends usually play and have preferred though all the Halo games.

Pistols: This is the ONLY weapon people (myself included) use it seems except from when rocket launcher spawn and everybody goes nuts to get it. 10 seconds after rocket pickup the 4 rockets have been fired and its back to pistols for everybody. This is so mind numbingly boring and the sound of 8x pistols firing from the beginning of the game to the damn end is about to drive me insane. Even after I take a break from the game I still hear phantom sounds of those damn pistols for at least the next hour. Pistols needs a nerf to make other weapons more attractive as they are currently just insanely OP.

Grenades: WHAT THE ACTUAL F… the grenade spam is like judgement day with fire and brimstone raining down upon us all. 8 people start off with two grenades each, that’s a total of 16 heat seeking pocket nukes ready to be thrown all over the place and people never seem to run out either as everybody auto pickups 2 new ones as soon as the first two are thrown. If i hear a grenade clunk nearby, it’s already too late to do anything about it as i will die instantly even at full health and shields. If I see it get thrown and know it’s coming I just -Yoinking!- run like a madman, dodge behind corners, run up stairs/hills and hide, only do instantly die anyways because I swear the damn things fly around corners and can roll up hill if they have to just to home in on my face. Grenade spawns needs to be toned down and people should start with only one each.

I swear these two items combined account for around 95% of my total deaths and kills. Yes it’s effective, but oh man is it boring. I try and use other weapons to spice things up a bit but I feel that all other weapons puts me at a disadvantage against anyone with a pistol so I usually just end up using pistols again.

343 Studios, can you PLEASE either tune these two weapons or add an alternative Team Slayer game mode with pistol ban and less grenades?

I’d be cool with a 1 nade spawn in Arena. But idk what you want done about the pistol. It’s better than the AR that you spawn with and aside from a few power weapons and the 1-2 BRs on the map there aren’t many better options to use.

Your kidding yourself if you think the magnum is op. While it may be the utility weapon it’s still a weak one at that. Almost every precision weapon on the map is better than the magnum. Be,carbine,DMr, light rifle, all better.

As for grenade spam I agree.

people are gonna use what they can kill with easiest it just a fact boring or not as for these weapons being tuned or alternative slayer playlists dont hold ur breath

Utility. Useful in numerous scenarios, but not the best at any. Obviously, any precision weapon is going to be better than the pistol at range.

The Pistol functions perfectly as a utility weapon.

I just view a good utility weapon differently then. The h5 magnum doesn’t give player empowerment which is really my issue with it. It shouldn’t be the best but it should be able to challenge weapons that are better than it, which doesnt happen unless the other player is very bad and won’t happen until the magnum is a 4sk but that’s my perspective. The CE magnum fit that bill perfectly and the h2 br also met that bill to an extent.

OP is this the account u play on cause you only have 1hr 50mins of game time… so i dont think your experience is gonna justify your opinion

If the pistol were 4sk, then there would be little to no point in picking up other 4sk weapons. There needs to be a reason to swap starting weapons for pickups, and yet pickups aren’t so powerful that they blow starting weapons out of the water. Their advantage in their niches is appropriately balanced.

A utility item is a multi-role item. Specialty items will always perform better in their specific roles. Halo 5 has that dynamic captured quite well in MM, IMO.

1a. Don’t use the Magnum 24/7. It will be best to switch to the Assault Rifle or other automatic weapons in CQC, especially if your oppenent is using a precision weapon in CQC.

1b. Excuse me? The Magnum has the least RRR (Red Reticule Range), least bullet magnetism, and the smallest magazine (Light Rifle not included because of the fact it is lightyears better than the Magnum) of all the precision weapons.

2a. Grenade spamming has always been around, in every game with grenades. Halo’s history with grenade spamming was at it’s worse during Halo 2. Nothing can stop it, unless grenades are removed entirely, which will be the day Half Life 3 releases.

2b. Grenade bouncing, heard of it? I feel like grenades are actually more predictable in this game than others. Previous Halo titles (excluding CE) sometimes the grenade wouldn’t even bounce, it just sat on the ground. And now more people are grenade bouncing than ever, because grenades are now super bouncy, which is a nice touch. I feel it is more predictable, because the majority of players now bounce grenades off the wall to dig enemies behind cover or around the corner, or even just bounce it off the ground to prep the grenade to explode when it is under the enemies feet.

  1. Battle Rifles totally pales in comparison to the mighty Magnum! (/s) If you feel like all non-power weapons are useless against the pistol, no offense, but you are trash, absolute garbage. Battle Rifles, DMRs, (usually) Carbines, Light Rifles, they are all so much better than the Magnum. I feel like you are using a Storm Rifle, Assault Rifle, or any automatic, in a midrange gunfight, resulting in you saying the magnum should be nerfed.

All in all, git gud. And learn when to use different types of weapons. And learn that we as a community, and Halo itself, are not letting a Halo 2 level of “balance” come back into play.

Also its 343 Industries, not 343 Studios. They aren’t an indie developer. (Not mocking indie developers just mocking how often indie developers name themselves “[Blank] Studio/Studios”)

I disagree with both points. Most precision weapon pickups are better than the pistol. I also never feel like grenade spamming happens too often. Grenades are finally useful as apposed to halo 4 where the indicator told you there was one around and they were too easy to avoid. Also frags won’t one hit kill you with full shields especially if you use thrusters.

Git good. The pistol is harder to use than an AR, therefore it is better.
