Kills faster than BR, allows for better strafing, takes more skill, no BR camping. Would be way funner than BR starts.
At least have a pistol starts playlist. I’d be thrilled.

Agreed
Anything but BR’s.
Play CE then. Pistol starts would be a terrible idea in H5. Yes, it takes skill to use unlike the AR but it also still loses to pretty much every other gun. It’s a backup when your primary goes empty and you don’t have time to reload. The same problems that make AR starts a terrible idea apply to pistol starts, except even worse.

It loses to pretty much every gun? I’ve been doing super well with the pistol in BR starts. Only problem is you usually get a person BRing you from behind or the side. ): I think 1 on 1 pistol fights would be FAR funner than the 3v1 BR fights.
I think that’d be interesting, maybe call it Team Classic or something like they had in Reach. Back when they used community remakes of H1/H2 maps, those were the days…
AR starts are Pistol starts.
Anyways, I really like the Pistol too, but it simply does not have enough range to be an effective spawning weapon. Once one team gets a majority of the ranged weapons they can dictate the pace of the game, I honestly don’t care what form it takes, I just want a versatile starting weapon.
Based on how the Halo 5 sandbox is right now, I would say that weapon is the BR(with an AR in the second slot). I would rather see the pistol rate of fire buffed to Halo 2/ODST levels in order to make it a ferocious close-mid weapon that will be well worth picking up and finally rid it of the ‘secondary’ stigma that has been haunting it from Halo 2 onward.
Either way bringing auto aim levels on all weapon to something similar to the Pistol would be good all around regardless of how it shakes out.

Sounds like a teamwork and positioning problem. Not a BR problem. If you’re getting killed 3v1 its because the other team is doing something right and you’re doing something wrong.
If you’re doing super well with the pistol in BR starts then the only reason you seem to want to remove the BR is so that you can do it easier. The point of the game settings isn’t to make the game easier for you, it’s to make the game balanced and promote map control and teamwork like any Halo game.

I would like it if we had pistol starts (or AR starts if you insist) without BRs or DMRs on the map. The only real long-range threats would be the Sniper, nades, and highly skilled pistol shots. Sound crazy? It is.
I think they should do DMR prime SMG second starts.

Not a huge problem when I play in a party but it’s hard to coordinate with your team solo. What I dislike about the BR starts in this game is that it makes the team skill gap very high and the individual skill gap very low. I enjoy Halo for its high individual skill gap compared to other games.
If they can fix the problems with BR starts (which would require removing sprint, thrusters, etc. and they aren’t going to do that) then sure. I enjoyed BR starts in the other games.
I just enjoy having skilled 1v1 gunplay. That’s all.
Sounds good on paper, but I think the game will play slowly, despite fast kill time.
AR and Pistol starts is the best. The AR is strong at close range but still viable for harassment at midrange, and the pistol is decent at midrange but still takes skill to counter for the recoil.

I was more implying that the AR is a non-factor since the pistol is the go too for sensible people.
Again, the problem is that the H5 pistol doesn’t have the range of its CE counterpart. You cannot effectively pressure a sniper and you don’t have quite the range to ward off close range power weapons.
I don’t have any particular attachment to the BR or DMR, in fact I have quite I don’t care for the redundancy that has filled the Halo sandbox. I just want a utility weapon to properly defend myself, whether it takes the form of a CE Pistol, BR, DMR, or even the Carbine, Needle Rifle, or Light Rifle. Unfortunately the Halo 5 pistol doesn’t fill that role.
I either want an all pistols/dmr playlist(with a slight movement speed increase) like the op asked for. Meaning no brs on the map.
I asked for this in halo 4 when 343i made the br EZ mode just like they continue to do in halo 5.
All im asking for is a playlist, where it might be competitve and opponents might miss shots.
You dont have to play it
Pistol starts would be great. Much more skill required to use than the BR or AR.
When I first saw this I thought of CS:GO. Pistol starts would be fun if there was no weapon pick-up.
I would add SMG as the primary with Pistol 2nd. Then up the damage with a little bit of accuracy to the AR to contend with the BRs accuracy. next, any precission weapons keep flinch while scoped & remove the descope, & all other weapons keep descope but remove flinch. What this would do is for a AR/BR battle the AR could keep on the trigger (still not having the best accuracy) but supressing the BR.In return if the BR can maintain accuracy with flinch it makes the AR less accurate.
