I believe…
the Magnum…
can be…
the best weapon…
to fix the game
If in some way the magnum gets a buff in some areas, it could be very progressive in long range encounters, and DMR counters…
since everyone -Yoinks!- about the DMR the perfect counter for it (besides snipers, and the weapon itself) could be the magnum.
simply
With a little less bloom
OR
possibly a 4sk (while keeping the amount of bloom)
OR
making it like the CE pistol with 3-4 shots to the head to kill and 5-6 body shots to kill. (while keeping a lower killtime then the DMR if they nerf the RoF)
With a counter weapon besides another person with the DMR the Magnum can be an effective secondary besides the boltshot (against infantry of course).
Ok then, so whats your plan for making the Light Rifle, Covenant Carbine, Storm Rifle, Assault Rifle, Suppressor, and Battle Rifle balanced with this magnum buff.
You have to remember this game has more than 2 or 3 starting weapons to balance.
If the magnum was a three or four shot, the AR would be useless because the magnum kill time would be insane close quarters. You don’t have to buff something else to balance the DMR you just have to nerf the DMR.
The magnum already dishes out a ton of damage compared to other weapons, I noticed in SWAT last week everyone was using it and they were dominating; it was almost as if the bullets hit faster than other bullets from other guns. You know what would help to balance the game out? Nerf a weapon without actually channging it. It can be done all you have to do is remove the crosshairs when you’re not scoped in with a weapon. Only weapons with scopes would have crosshairs so snapshotting people with the beam rifle would be made harder without having the on screen aim assist.
The magnum already has the fastest kill time between all the loadout precision weapons, and as it is a secondary weapon, it should do no more damage.
The Magnum is fine as it is IMO.
I use it quite a lot against other Spartans wielding precision weapons with excellent results considering is only a secondary.
