Am I the only one finding the pistol frustrating in matches? Everyone runs around with it and it seems too effective. I preferred it in the beta. I don’t feel it should have such a huge range. It should be a back up gun, but instead it is on par with the BR/DMR. It’s daft, but just my opinion.
Maybe the bottom line is that it shouldn’t be a starting weapon.

No I am not saying that, I just think the pistol of 3 and 4 days was far more balanced.
No, the pistol is fine where it’s at. It can still be outgunned by BRs and DMRs and it’s happened to me plenty of times.
When I play I rarely see people using it, it’s mostly the BRs and those can get annoying at times.
I don’t know about you, but my pistol just is not a good gun long range. I’d much rather have a BR or DMR. I think it has a good feel. It’s not the worst in long to mid range situations, but effective close.
Pistol seems fine to me. I never really use it as a primary though, so I don’t really know how effective it would be as one. Halo is really the only game that I ever use the “switch to your pistol, it’s faster than reloading” trick. Cause it actually works. I would say to keep it the same, unless it’s just as powerful as the DMR which I highly doubt

Hmmm. Maybe I will get used to it. I know people moaned about it H4, but the pistol was spot on in that. A reasonable range and quite powerful, but not a weapon to take into a BR fight.

People wreck others from across the arena maps with the pistol. I am for the power, but not the range

A lot of people want and argue BR starts. So I think the Magnum being a little weaker than the BR, is a very balanced starting weapon.
What would you suggest the starting weapons be?

The pistol was great in H4 and decent in H3.

I do think the pistol should remain a starting weapon with the AR but not with the current range it has

AR should be nerfed.
The pistol is great as is. It’s a solid starting weapon, and I prefer the feel of it to a rifle, but if I need to fight at a longer range, I grab a battle rifle or DMR. The pistol is a good close to mid range option.

they specifically chose the ar/pistol combo because its a nice all around starting combo, that forces you to actually move around the map to find other weapons -instead of just camping.
You clearly want the BR, look - now you have to expose yourself and go get it, instead of hiding and picking people off. Now you have to play Halo… WEIRD.
I Agree, I get killed by the pistol at long range as well - doesn’t mean it isn’t fair, I cant get long range kills with it to save my life - some people are better with it than other, just accept it.

Not sure if you’re joking or being serious.
The pistol is fine though, OP. It has always been a close-medium ranged weapon like the Assault Rifle and Battle Rifle. But it quickly loses it effectiveness at firefights over range where the Battle Rifle can quickly dominate it… of course it’s all about skill and precision aiming. It’s actually also better then the BR and is on par with the DMR in terms of STK
