Okay so I’m going to go into this with a disclosure, I am as good with a pistol as I am with AR, I have no real issues with the pistol, but rather just looking for opinions.
Lately I’ve been playing FFA in build to tomorrow’s HCS tournament in Las Vegas, and as I’ve played I’ve started to notice that more and more players use the pistol to counter and beat the AR as a starting weapon. I’ve used it so I’m as guilty as the next but in a game type like FFA where its all close quarters (or supposed to be), it doesn’t make sense that the pistol can beat out the AR a lot. It honestly feels like the pistol is becoming more of a primary then the AR. Does anyone think that FFA would be better with just a AR to start and the pistol be a pickup on the map?
If you are using an AR from log range thats your mistake. A Pistol win win 100% of the time. Now at close range the pistol can still beat the AR but its very unlikely. The magnum has to literally land 5 perfect shots in order to win that battle and its pretty difficult aiming from close range when you have an AR in your face. Assuming you dont miss a lot with an AR at close range that is.

I understand the long range aspect I will always use the pistol for that, it’s more so for me in the close quarters the three shot melee with the magnum that can a lot harder to counter.

I disagree I don’t play ffa that much but I usually beat out the magnum easily at close range with an AR of course I use the pistol unless it’s close range but I’m unranked so I could be going up against bad players but even when I’m going up against good players that high sr ranks(which doesn’t immediately mean your skillful) but they seem like good players.

I will always use the pistol at range, I’m not saying those who do use it religiously or often are bad players. It’s a hard gun to get used to and to have pinpoint accuracy to nail the five for a perfect definitely takes skill. (Side Note: I definitely agree with the high sr not meaning a good player, I’ve met 150’s that aren’t as good as some 80’s)
