Ping System

The ping system is very basic and almost useless. I’d like to sea a simple double tap for enemy location, possibly hold and along with face buttons for defend here, engage enemy or look there. Plus make it stand out more for players to notice.

Based on where it is on the controller, I honestly couldn’t even use it.

I don’t know if I would like it for Halo, probably not but other games you ping an enemy and it puts a little red dot over them for a limited time. I don’t like this though as you can track moving enemies using it.

Halo is fast paced enough that I don’t think a ping enemies system is that effective anyway.

Agree with Ken, Since I was using controller I never really ever pinged.

I really only pinged a weapon to let the team know that it spawned if I didn’t want the weapon.

Ha, same!

Too much trouble to ping while in active combat.

I’ve said this many times over the past few flights if ping is to become a first class system in Infinite like it is in Apex then the controller button needs rebinding to a similar approach to Apex too. That’s my biased take though because I prefer it being on LB but then that throws out equipment and grenades. That’s why I’d move equipment to LB+RB.

I used ping a fair bit during all three weekends getting several shot caller medals and mark/ping assists. I don’t think it’s completely useless but I’d prefer it be moved somewhere else to get more use out of it.

You can remap it on controller. But yeah I don’t think there’s a good place to put it because like you said the bumpers are already good real estate for other buttons. I went with a modified bumper jumper with jump on LB and equipment on RB. X,y,b,a are already taken by reload, switch weapon, melee and sprint respectively.

I think having double/combo binds would definitely help solve this.

Yea, I tried remapping it but where do you put it if not on the d-pad? Combo binds would be a great way to solve this. I really hope we get them in the future.

Yeah its pretty useless, they need to make it a bit more like the one in apex or warzone

It was really awkward to use it because of where it was at. I definitely agree. At times I wanted to use it but basically couldn’t, and then times I’d try to use it and would ping the wrong thing right next to what I was trying to ping. I like the addition, but its just awkward to press. I don’t remember if our Spartans would say something when we would ping or if our radar would flash or anything. Like little subtle things to get our team mates attention especially if they’re randoms. They’d help if they were there but I honestly can’t remember because I didn’t use it as much as I would have liked to.

Not enough and it’s useless, too much and it hurts the competitive meta.

I feel like it’s going to be more of a thing that’s helpful in campaign co-op, and big team games rather than arena multiplayer.
