Pilot's role in Infinite

I know this is a rather small topic that’s too late in development to change. The story is pretty much done and that’s fine. But we can still discuss and so I’m here to express my concern for the Pilot’s role in Infinite.

We already know the Pilot takes the Chief from place to place. But is that all he’s going to do?? I hope he gets to fight alongside us like Ellie and Atreus from TLOU and God of War respectively. I want to know more about the character and his background.

343 has potentially a very powerful story between the Chief and Pilot here.

Meh, who cares about the Pilot. I don’t know anything about him, and it’s just another character that 343 is shoving in our faces. We‘ll see. But I hope he doesn’t have a big role in the campaign. Maybe as a really, emotional Foehammer?

I doubt he’s just going to be a guy who takes us place to place.
It’s pretty hard to tell what his role be without knowing much about the story of the game.

I imagine there’s a connection between him and chief. Pilot is just another soldier who just so happens to run into the greatest Spartan alive.
I can see the pilot playing a more human role and maybe that’ll some what humanise chief a bit.

Without cortana or blue team by his side chief does need someone in the game to communicate and form a connection with.

With the Chief becoming more of his own character rather than a shell the player is meant to insert themselves into, I see Brohammer taking on the role of the audience. He’s the regular guy witnessing the awesomeness of the Chief, which is basically who we are already.

I’d like to see him take on the role of the companions you see on Doctor Who. They aren’t particularly special in their own right, but they provide an avenue for the viewer to be a part of the story. They observe the Doctor and are able to provide the regular person’s perspective on what the Doctor is doing. They even can influence the Doctor with their more grounded perspective.

If infinite has rpg or free roam elements to it, he may be a mission hub. Or he could just be someone that is supposed to die so master chief can turn all angry boi. Lame idea but I’ve seen worse story elements in video games.

This. I’d rather they focus on the many existing, beloved characters instead

Even Palmer, for gosh sake.

He’s already way more interesting than Palmer, Locke, and almost every character 343 created. He’s shown more character growth in that Discover Hope trailer without saying a single word than Locke has in the entirety of Halo 5. I know that’s not a high bar… But to do that in 3 minutes is amazing. The change of writer is obvious.

No one was interested in Atreus in God of War. Now, it turned out to be a masterpiece. And 343 has a really talented writer so this story might turn out to be great too. We’ll see though.

He’s an audience surrogate character, that’s for sure. For the sake of ahem not intruding on the player’s gameplay, he won’t be doing anything else but exposition dump and talk between missions, and perhaps get killed off somewhere near the end of the base game.

I hate to be passive-aggressive, but that’s what Brohammer has been presented like so far to be honest.
