Pickup Item Spawn Timers

343, you’ve kept H4 a secret, we all have no idea what to expect gameplay wise. I hope you nail the CORE of the game with fast, responsive movement and controls as well as effective and consistent weapons.

But after you do that, you need to think about making the weapons, powerups, and any other item you plan on making accessible via pickup after the game starts fair for all the players in the game.

My suggestion, look to the past. In Halo CE all items spawned on predictable timers that never changed regardless of when they were picked up. This meant that every player in the game had the ability to know when the item would be on re-spawn and prevented players/teams from abusing the fact that they picked up the item last and therefore has exclusive knowledge of its next spawn time.

I think general matchmaking would benefit from this item pickup timing system. But not in general game types I request at least the ability to have these kinds of timers customizable via a map editor(forge or otherwise).

In H3 and Reach we’ve been given the “Drop Spawn Glitch” via forge to put weapons on similar timers. However, I would like for this option to be programmed into the actual game. There are limitations to drop spawns(can’t place powerups or AAs on drop spawns and can’t customize the timers to the second you’d like them to spawn)

Thanks for your time and for reading, here is to hoping H4 is the best Halo yet : )

Supported.

No reason not to really even if it’s just an extra custom option.

I support this idea.

I dont see why it shouldn’t be added.

At the very least I’d love to see this as an option.

Totally agree. The ability to have static respawn times for weapons, power ups, AAs, equipment, etc. is a must

It gives the player a lot more planning and control of the power ups/weapons. Please put this in

Please do this 343.

Pretty please with Cherries on top

I’m supporting this for the same reason I initially supported the TU2, I see no reason why not to.

I don’t think the ability to predict when power weapons spawn is a good idea.i like the joy of playing and finding a brand new rocket launcher instead of having some guy hiding with a stopwatch waiting for the power weapon to spawn.

I agree in that it should be programmed into the game and being able to work with a simple change of a setting, not exploiting a work-around that people have to discover. It would make power ups and power weapons more viable to fight over and not as much controlled, preventing power weapon abuse. The maximum run time for power weapons should probably be dropped too to make it work.

You’re a fool if you don’t think that is going on with the current power weapons spawn system. The only difference is that the only person that knows when the power weapon is coming back is the same person who picked it up. So guess what, they get to sit there with the stop watch and wait for the power weapon and you have no idea vs if you both know it’s coming up you can predict that a player may be waiting for it and kill him before he gets it(ie bait him)

It doesn’t look to me like a weapon spawns until the owner drops the empty one.

That’s exactly the way it is now. One person gets the weapon and drops it, allowing only that person to know when it spawns. With the proposed method, everyone in the game would be able to know when it comes up and strategize/coordinate pushes for it making for much more balanced, fair and competitive game play.

Reminds me ot Str8 dirtying weapons back in the day on H3. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyhow, I support this thread. Good initiative Yoseph.

I support this

this

Its so sad, but good posts like this will get ignored and fall off into the unknown… Its ridiculous that threads like this are ignored when limited -Yoink- threads about armor permutations consistently stay on the first page.
