Pick Your Spartans Class

Okay so I was thinking earlier today, and something I think would be cool in Halo 5/Xbx1 is if in MP you could pick what Class your Spartan was. Considering all surviving II’s and III’s where intergraded in to the IV’s it could be possible. Now picking your class would not just be astatic in nature but would alter how you played.

First off depending on what Class you picked altered what armor you could where; their would be armor that all 3 classes could wear (Like ODST, Recon, or Rouge) but some classes got armor exclusive to their Class.

Your Class also altered what Armor Abilities or Armor Mods you could equipped along with any other ‘perks’ you are given, and like the armor there are generic ones that all 3 classes could use.

Your Class could also affect what weapons you could carry, II’s get super heavy weapons, III’s Get light weapon, and IV’s are in the middle.

Finally you Class also affects your health, size (Target area), Melee Damage, Speed and mobility.
II’ would be the strongest and the most powerful but also the least mobile and biggest.
III’s would be the weakest and the least powerful but they would be the fastest and most nimble.
IV’s would be right in the middle, Stronger and more powerful than the III’s but not the II’s, but more mobile that the II’s but are not as fast and the III’s

Granted this is a ‘rough draft’ of sorts and could be refined a hole-lot but I just wanted to know what you all thought of this idea? Anything else you can think of that would be affected by what Class you played as?

Why not add in Elites, Brutes, Combat Forms, and Forerunners and have them be the classes? Then we can still have classic Halo spartan vs. spartan gameplay for the people who like that.

… so essentially, you want Halo to be the same kind of game as Team Fortress 2?

I actually wouldn’t be against this if it only applied to 1 or 2 playlists.

It could work like this:

There are 4 or 5 predetermined classes. When you enter a playlist you pick which class you want to play as and you have a separate skill based rank for each class. Games pit teams of 4 or 5 players against eachother (1 spartan of each class).

If it wouldn’t work for multiplayer it could be a really neat dynamic for Spartan Ops.

I mulled this idea around for a while before, classes definitely help balance the game. The only problem is that there’s not enough stuff to make classes.

In a game like battlefield, each class has a weapon class (assault rifles, carbines, snipers, LMGs, ect.) but in halo, there’s only like one of each so it would produce a team fortress 2 style game - which wouldn’t necessarily be bad. I think that this should at least be considered however its TOO different and the community would reject it.

Definitely sounds cool for a spin off, but for a standard Halo game, it kind of strays away from Halo’s gameplay style significantly.

I like the idea. As long as it is all balanced within the game, I think it could definitely lead to some very cool customizations for armor and such.

Maybe for a game mode like invasion, or firefight but as a general feature don’t think so because the majority of the community might hate this if load outs are intertwined with this.

Will we receive hats that can be worn overtop of our helmets? Will we have access to sandviches?

The possibilities are endless.

I like customization
Things done my way
My choice

I don’t want halo to be like tf2 lol

Will we get a bunch of hats too?

Grunt Slayer FTW!

If this was one playlist/gametype I’d be okay.

Maybe a gamemode like Spartan Ops but with certain classes and abilities? Then in multiplayer there would be more team playing and not as much lone wolf.

No thanks, not only is it kind of a bad idea for gameplay but those “classes” wouldn’t work in the canon.

Each Spartan class would be almost indistinguishable from the other if they’re all wearing Mjolnir.

Please no. That is the exact opposite of what Halo is supposed to be. Arena shooter vs. class based shooter. They are completely different. Classes do not belong in a Halo game.

Nice bump.
