Infinite is an xbox play anywhere title, so while there is no physical pc version, buying the steelbook I would think you could play it on either xbox or pc.
Please don’t take my word for that as I’m unsure how play anywhere works with physical disks.
who the hell uses discs in 2021? That will never happen and optical drives are hardly ever sold nor do modern pc cases support that type of configuration for PCs.

Thank you for that.
I was wondering the same thing as the OP.

Why do I have a Vinyl record collection and a $5000 record player? Because I want too. Because I love the tactile feel.
I want a physical copy of this game because I remember going to watch The Two Towers at the cinema, then followed by a LAN night will all my friends and 4 Xbox’s (with 4 copies of Halo CE sitting on the kitchen table)
To me, Infinite truly is, The Return of the King, and I want something tactile to remind me of my youth.

I am a PC player, but I would love a physical copy to pout on my shelf with all my Halo games and books.
If there’s no official PC physical release, then I’ll just do it one myself.

I have a Halo shelf and its impossible to put any digital games on said shelf. Its just symbolic for me.

I don’t think the disk version unlocks the play-anywhere feature. So PC players who want the steelbook will need to buy two copies, one physical for Xbox (which includes the steelbook) and a digital code (either for PC or Xbox) to unlock the play-anywhere feature. Unless of course they have the option to buy a steelbook that contains a DL code.

I’m not sure, just changed what I wrote as wouldn’t want anyone buying a disk on what I say. Needs some research. digital for sure as it’s linked through Microsoft account, maybe it would be as simple as signing into an xbox and installing the game so it registers on live account and then it could be downloaded onto pc? But even that I don’t know as digital versions usually cost more
Thanks anyone for the answers! It is not that expensive and, since Halo 4 that was the first Halo that i could buy the special edition (i never got an xbox before at launch), I will take the risk and buy the game. Worse case scenario Multuiplayer is free and I dont have too much hype for the campaign… and if im wrong there is always Gamepass

I’m not 100% sure either, but I would be VERY surprised if a non-digital version unlocked play anywhere.
I thought they stopped making physical PC games like 7 years ago. All things considered, it’s not smart. I might start a company that helps game developers press their games into blu ray discs in biodegradable packaging one day.
