Vehicular gameplay and vehicular strategising is seriously punished in Halo 5. The better the vehicle, the much more prone it is to dying within a 3 minutes of spawning.
The Memories of Reach brought us a more “powerful” version of the Pheaton. This time with a laser beam and double the amount of bombs. But what I read in its description: “additional/extra armour” was bull shiezer.
I just finished a round of Warzone Turbo only to die after only being able to kill 3 people with my first Helios, and 1 banshee with my second Helios. After that it they both just died and fell to the ground like a useless pancake. Absolute joke. Actually, you know what killed my second Helios? A regular warthog killed me with only one bullet from a distance after my “shields” “regenerated” after being shot merely twice from an aqua banshee. Defenceless as dog shiezer.
My point is these vehicles die easily, and using any cool vehicle in Halo 5 is seriously frowned upon, punished, and discouraged. Normal DMRs and BRs and normal warthogs it seems, pose the greatest threat against supposedly awesome vehicles. Hell my tank actually exploded once after being shot once from a banshee and only s couple of DMR shots blew me up even though the tank was still in good condition.
If if you’re like me, you can easily relate to the times you barely get any killing sprees with l any 5+ req vehicle, not to mention the tank is defenceless as a dead dog.
What is the reason for so much punishing vehicular gameplay? In fact I just watched my brother spawn a mantis and barely lasted one minute of regular BR fire. Gone, kapoosh. Waisted time. Wasted reqs.
NOTE: this especially applies to turbo AND normal Warzone.
More evidence of how powerful vehicles in Halo 5 are actually your own death sentance: I just killed two Hannibal tanks while I was invisible. Do you know how frustrated the enemy team would’ve been? I’m glad the invisibility was working properly, that’s something I’ve wanted since Reach made it too detectable. But the tanks have no way of defending themselves. It only takes 1 grenade to blow up their “strong” armour. (EDIT: This is something conduct able in all Halo games, and is praisable. HOWEVER tank deaths have increased severely in Halo 5. In Reach or other games, it was extremely hard to reach the scorpion if you wanted to blow it up with a grenade, and there was always the possibility of the tank shooting you off. In Halo 5, it feels like the life of a tank is more reliant on chance than skill. There is a high fear of being killed too quickly in Halo 5. Any vehicle might I add makes you feel this way in Halo 5.)
Another example of how weak and defenceless your vehicles are is by going within a reasonable distance of AI. Legendary opponents are too accurate, even wraiths. Marines inflict more damage to vehicles with assault rifles than Spartans. Flying over the enemy spire on Apex 7 will get you killed in a flash.
Point is Halo 5 punishes vehicle gameplay. In the other Halo games, it is actually still normal to get massive amounts of kills with just one vehicle, even after it’s been critically damaged. It is also normal in the other Halo games, to ‘occasionally’ die within a short period of time, or even spawn. In fact there’s even a habit in Halo Reach where players will actually strategies a way to steal the enemy vehicles (such as banshees), a the funny part is they do so with a much higher success rate than Halo 5. In Halo 5 it literally considered a blessing to even capture a vehicle, and it’s usually relied on chance than strategy.
Final word: I would actually be okay with dying so much with vehicles of we actually got lots of reqs for them just like we get tons of reqs for mongooses and turret less warthogs. It wouldn’t matter. And fun would be abundant, not frustrating. Thanks 343
EDIT: This article provides evidence how poorly functional the Halo 5 scorpion is compared to the Reach scorpion.
