I have killed a few Phantoms and received a medal in the after action stats but I just noticed there isn’t a medal place in the vehicle kills section. What gives?
Those are probably medals created for the game but never fully implemented.

One was a sustained ultra banshee bombardment & the rest were toward the end of a FF round, maybe 5 kills.

The medal looks like a cartoon phantom, same features as a ghost or wraith medal.

WZFF. There’s phantom boss waves every once in awhile. Taking one down will give you the Phantom destroyed and Boss takedown medal.
It could be that the “Phantom Kill” medal was only visible in Campaign but never in multiplayer. That’s why when you look at your medals in the Halo 5 service record, it only displays medals you achieved during multiplayer matches and not Campaign. Also Warzone came afterwards as a free DLC and the devs had to change a few things up, like making the Phantoms invincible cause (for some reason) they aren’t meant to be destroyed and killing a Warden will give you a boss take down rather than a “Warden Kill”.

Shoot it enough times with heavy weapons. In Firefight however they are invincible (except the ones that are meant to be bosses). There is a glitch/bug where if you shot at the phantom right before the “round complete” purges all the enemies, the phantom with be destroyed/disappear and will count as a kill (since you did damage to it while it is still in the map).

Makes sense. Just one of those loose ends I guess.
Phantom
343 didn’t expect people to kill phantoms because of how little time they spend actually Killable (they phase out of existance after a point) and the medal is only there in case someone did kill the phantom. I have done so many times in campaign and in general, the destruction for the phantom is very underwhelming, you can literally see the phantom dissappear in the explosion with no debris unlike in previous games.

you can also kill one in WZ battle of notcus where the mythic covenant boss comes 2 phantoms come in and circle the monument

I killed some phantoms but never get a medal only show legendary boss or boss I dont know

I would say 98% of the time no one gets the phantom medal whether it’s a boss or not. I have over 3k of WZ games and I got it maybe 5 times.
