Phantom Account - Need to re-level and re-buy Battle Pass (PC)

Hello,

I recently came across an account login issue that I would like to share, as it left me with a wiped multiplayer rank and battle pass.

When I first logged into Halo Multiplayer Beta using Steam, I was prompted to login into my Microsoft account. I used the same email that I always use, and I was incorrectly logged into some new account that 343/Microsoft made for me.

Incorrect account created: “CostcoSamplr”

Correct account: “CostcoSampler”

Notice there is no “e” in the first, phantom account I’ll call it.

Anyways, I went about my business buying the Battle Pass, playing the game for WEEKS and leveling pretty far. I NEVER saw my friends in my friend’s list and thought it was a bug, and recently got very annoyed and re-logged.

This is when I was CORRECTLY logged into “CostcoSampler” my 10-year old Microsoft account I’ve used for xbox gaming forever. Now my multiplayer account is wiped “since it is a different account”, and I have to re-buy the battle pass.

For reference, I never used a different email, It was always the same email and I cannot get into the 1st account anymore. It is almost as if it doesn’t exist anymore, but was once linked to the same email.

I submitted a ticket and it’s been over 48 hours (normal?) and wanted to see if anyone can replicate this weird issue or at least keep someone from dealing with this like I am.

I don’t think 343i has the ability to merge Steam profiles.

The best thing you can do I think is take the loss and spent 10 dollars on a new battle pass. You played 41 games on your phantom account and 17 matches on your good account. It could be worse (buying a lot of stuff in the store on your phantom account for example). 10 dollars is what you lose. And on your good account you seem to be playing better than your phantom account. :wink:

You would be better off contacting Xbox support for this issue. There is a better chance that they can resolve both transaction and account errors.

Funny thing is, that second account CostcoSampler isn’t me! (you can tell my avatar is a cheeseburger and the other is Patrick the Star)

I haven’t played one game on the new account yet…
