Phaeton LVL 8

Now, maybe its a bit premature for m to say this, since I don’t have either of the two phaeton variants in the game, but am I the only one that’s sort-of irked that both phaeton variants are lvl 8 reqs. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen the Helios in action and it is utterly destructive, but the original phaeton isn’t nearly as strong. I don’t think its weak mind you, but I simply can’t understand why both are valued the same, req wise, since they’re are both the same rarity but one far surpases the other. Its similar to how the railgun and the whiplash are the same req lvl, despite the massive difference between the two, but on a much larger scale. I’ve seen people get unfrigs multiple times with the Helios in games I’ve played, and the regular phaeton just isn’t as good. What I’m recommending is that the original phaeton be brought to a lvl 7 (or even a lvl 6 but that might be pushing it) instead, while the Helios stays at 8 alongside other monsters like the Hannibal scorpion. Like I said before, I don’t have either vehicle unlocked yet ( just unlocked Hannibal Scorp a minute ago woot woot) and maybe they’re both on the same tier. But I feel like, maybe lowering the req lvl of the original phaeton, (or maybe even making it an ultra rare req instead), could really help to balance these two vehicles out. I just feel like, since both are the same rarity and req lvl, that your just as likely to get one as you ar the other, but on is just so much more helpful. Im probably ranting at this point, but does anyone feel this way too?

The regular phaeton is ridiculous once you know how to use it. (This is hard to do since they are so rare) I would argue the Helios could be level 9, and I still can’t understand why there are 9 levels.

They both should be level six or seven really. Phaetons armor isn’t very strong and entire enemy teams stop whatever it is they are doing and start shooting at you. They are bullet magnets. I love using them but they aren’t that destructive to be so rare and such a high req level. The phaeton missiles don’t even lock on or even have much slash damage.

I agree. I have tried to combat a phaeton Helios, but to no avail, it’s really, really, good.

The Helios ones do a ton of damage, and can take out a banshee ultra in two barrages and one hit with the primary weapon. When combined with the wheelman perk they are ridiculously good.

There is 9 levels for req stacking… use a power up like damage boost or active camo and then another weapon like the answer or a sniper rifle

That’s my biggest gripe with phaetons in general. 343 added this cool new forerunner vehicle, but made it so rare that only a tiny percentage of the fanbase will ever get to use them. Luckily im in the latter half of gold packs, so I’ll hope to get at least one variant soon.

I think the Helios being 8 is fine but the standard version being reduced to 7 might be nice, it is powerful but it’s arguably easier to destroy than even a standard Banshee.

Exactally! I’ve used the original phaeton before, though ultra rare random reqs, and I know it isn’t a pushover if you learn to use it. I also learned to use it a lot during the firefight beta, where id highjack one anytime we had to defend that garage and would often keep it for the rest of the game if I survived that round. However, from what iv’ seen the Helios is just better. Since moving the Helios to lvl 9 would be absurd, since its still rather fragile and a laser will mess it up, I do believe that the Original would fit much better at lvl 7.

i think i have around 50-60 goldpakcs worth of stuff left to unlock. i already used couple of pheatons too, they are good, but i think the biggest flaw of the pheaton is the giant orange glowing bullseye weakspot on its belly. make the weakspot on the engines or flippers or something, that would vastly improve their survival rate

In fairness, the Phaetons are quite well balanced with other vehicles in terms of the giant weak spot on them. I mean, at least you have to go to the trouble of actually shooting at them rather than strolling up and dropping a grenade in the hatch like other high req vehicles. Sarcasm aside though, the higher level models should be immune to things like that in my opinion. Make the regular phaeton lvl7, make the weak spot on the Helios smaller and make ONI and Hannibal vehicles have the same sort of cover like vehicles used to have where you need to beat it a few times to make a hole, then drop the grenade in. At least then teammates have a chance to do something about saving it

One being level 7 would maybe cause me to use it. I have a ton of both variants, It never seems to be the right time.

I think 8 is about right for both of them. The original has more armor, I don’t care what they say, but the Helios has more fire power. It’s a glass cannon though. It takes VERY little to take down a Helios. I have a lot of both of them and have used them both a good bit and they may claim the Helios has more armor, but that thing is soft.
