I’m interested in hearing people’s opinions about if petitions should be allowed here. Besides the fact that the numbers are not an accurate portrayal of those that frequent matchmaking, they don’t foster discussion and instead consist primarily of single word posts. So, what say you?
Only appropriate ones… Not something like to have an Easter egg of myself in a game or something like that…
I am not a fan of petitions. They take a spot from discussions. 343 has provided several threads just for official feedback. I prefer using those myself over petitions. If petitions were reliable then great but unfortunately they are not.
Edit: I forgot to say this earlier.
Thanks for at least asking how we felt about it. Much appreciated.
I despise petitions.
To me they’re more of a joke and a waste of space then anything.
There is no discussion unless its people ragging on the OP for making said petition.

I think a hard rule versus one open to interpretation would be optimal.
petitions = waist of space/time.
please no!
unless this is a petition against all petitions in that case, add my name to the list!
Man, whenever I made a thread (After the announcement of H4) about how petitions were pointless, I got ripped apart. Now everyone’s against them…

I’d love to have petitions! But then I would petition the petition to be removed :I
Seriously though, I think that your time could be spent making much more useful things, people complain about certain things on here and “petitions” are rarely made but would you like to come on the forum and see on almost every page “Petition to remove _______” “Petition to add ________”
No…don’t do it…please :I
I would have to say that I don’t like petitions and I think that they are just a waste of space. Out of all of the Halo community, how many actually come here and post? And how many even take a look at petition threads? I flat out and ignore petition threads.
Ω
No petitions, please. I’m not a fan of them. I’d rather have feedback help lead direction and not petitions.

Umm… All that’s required is a rule that says “No petitions.”
Personally I find Petitions to be complete wast of time, and it falls under the same category of useful things as Protests, serveys.
People who protest are people who don’t like what’s going on, and instead of doing something useful and taking action, they get in a group yell at the top of their lungs at people, and wave signs.
People who do petitions are people who think that a massive amount names on a list will change some one’s mind, and half the time, they have no clue what the whole story, and they don’t think.
I know I can be a bit rash, and a bit of an A-hole, but when I say some one is stupid, or telling some one they’re acting like a spoiled little brat, I’m not all ways attacking that person, I’m just stating the facts.

Seconded. If they were absolutely needed, I think a poll could serve the same purpose, and polls don’t require a post for each response.
I don’t like petitions personally, but that doesn’t mean they should be forbidden. They’re harmless, and if they annoy you, that’s too bad. You don’t have to sign the petition or look at it. It’s a way of showing support for something, and they go alongside discussion very well. Whatever happened to freedom of expression?
If petitions are abolished, polls should be implemented for quick organization of public opinion.
I will admit to have made a few petitions in my time and they can sometimes help get an accurate gauge of who wants what and how many people want it. Only if they make sense or are appropriate though.
