Petition to make Forge Offline available

Come on 343,
I still go back to Halo Reach and Halo 2 Anniversary on occasion just to enjoy Forge and with how wonderful the Halo 5 Forge is, it is a shame that we cannot play it offline and that even worse we will never be able to play it when the servers get cancelled.
Don’t know any way to make this appapparent that we all want this, but, it would earn back a lot of the lost faith and respect the community has lost for you all as a whole.

I cannot be the only one.

To be honest mate, it’s the way the engine is built.
It is not going to happen, at least with Halo 5. It means re-structuring the game’s code which is an engine thing and is a lot of wasted time which could be used making content.

Perhaps it’s something to push for with Halo 6.

It does seem like a bit of an obsession with microsoft to link everything to the ‘cloud’. I doubt it will happen but as iFletch said hopefully for H6.

With H5 forge coming out on PC maybe this will lengthen its life by a substantial amount. Looking forward to forge with a mouse and keyboard!

petitions arent allowed here.

What would be the purpose?

-No splitscreen, so can’t play your forged map with anyone on the same console as you could previously
-Can’t share your map, so nobody can play it but you

Are you making maps just for yourself or what?

Why cant people understand as simple and basic concept that halo 5 uses dedicated servers to calculate light patch and ray tracing… which translates to English as… it uses server to add light. Happy now? Its not possible for your xbox to hand so much… you will get below 30fps…
You might ask why just lighting cause such a problem… well its because 3d softwares take light as photons and there are billions of them when using them… so it takes time to calculate how each of them will reflect when it hits a surface.

I’d like it to be offline as well so I can work on maps on my flights. Great time consumer…

Good luck with that.

I support your cause, but you’ll want to change your title before this gets locked.

The problem you face when you bring this up is most people just don’t get it. They’ll say thing like “it’s only one player anyway so you going to build spaces for yourself?” …um yes actually Forge is a great tool for making great spaces for just that. When I Forge it’s not to share at all. Another argument of course is that all you need is gold which misses the point that having gold isn’t the problem at all for some. Not being able to access stuff down the like when the system is no longer there is definitely an issue for those that create. What’s the point if you can’t access your stuff. It would be like asking any artist to create something knowing full well their work was going to be destroyed years later- they likely would say what’s the point

Too many people don’t think of the future consequences of the play here and now attitude until perhaps one day they discover this issue all by themselves. It’s a minority that the issue of Forge currently and that’s why 343 or wont be listening unfortunately. Different matter if it was a majority concern. No respect for 343 or ms as it currently is because they could put something in place to be able to use Forge offline if they really wanted to

Sorry OP but petitions aren’t allowed on the forums.

Currently Xbox Live servers won’t be going anywhere for quite some time, so I wouldn’t worry about losing content any time soon. Offline Forge is something the Forge team have been talking about, but it’s not as easy as just tweaking a few options. I’m sure if it can be done, we’ll find out from the team. Maybe work from Windows 10 can help on this
