Peter Jackson Halo Movie

I’m still in the camp of having Peter Jackson direct a full budget Halo movie.

His work in Lord of the Rings speaks for itself. It has the perfect blend of emotion, backstory, pace, and familiarity throughout the movies.

I understand there are others capable but if I had to choose, it would be Peter Jackson

Dude, have you seen the Hobbit movies? I wouldn’t let Peter Jackson near anything if I wanted quality nowadays.

Right… you make a good point. I was mostly thinking about the first 3 Lord of the Rings movies he worked on.

In his defense… I think there is more to what made the Hobbit movies the way they were than just Peter Jackson. Also, I wasn’t as down on the Hobbit movies as some but again I do see your point.

I would really like to give him a hard look though because I really do think he could do a good job.

Who else do you think that would do a spectacular job? This could be hypothetically anyone…

The movie went through development hell, it really wasn’t Peter Jackson’s fault.

Ya I definitely think Peter Jackson is a great fit for Halo. Scifi has suffered from being way too politicized recently (I’m looking at you Bloomkamp). And I think Jackson would treat the lore with respect and not insert his own philosophies.

Thanks… I kind of noted that in my post as well. I really can’t off the top of my head remember the details with all of that but things weren’t really in good order as maybe they were for the first 3 movies.

I still am not as down on the Hobbit movies as some are but I can see where some frustration is.

Still… I really think the first Lord of the Rings are a much better representation of Peter Jacksons work.

Good to hear!

I really did think I was one of the few left in the Peter Jackson camp.

I’m not saying there wouldn’t be others talented and qualified to do a Halo movie but I really do think Peter Jackson is the type of director that a HALO movie would prosper from.

I hope he’s still high on Microsoft’s radar

I think the Spielberg TV series put a shaft in the movie for good… If that series ever comes out…

I really don’t think that the Spielberg TV series put a shaft in the movie for good.

If I had to give my honest opinion… A HALO MOVIE WILL HAPPEN. It just will… there is just too much power behind it with the amount of Halo fans or at the very least people that are familiar with the HALO brand would make it to be very marketable. For when a HALO movie will happen… well now that’s a talker right there but if I had to put the money down on either or… I wouldn’t even hesitate and put it down that a full budget HALO movie WILL HAPPEN… just a matter of when is all.

Now about the Spielberg HALO TV series…
Kiki Wolfkill just said within the last week or so that the series is still a go. She said that they basically originally announced it at the very very beginning of the whole ordeal but people didn’t exactly know that at the time so we just assumed it was right around the corner when in reality it was years away. They said they want a series at the caliber and quality of Game of Thrones.
I really do think it’s on the way but these things do take time and 343 seems to want it done right.

Who knows though… a year down the road we may find out that a TV series is out the window. I’m trying to be optimistic I guess…

Peter Jackson is amazing. Looking at how he treated middle earth lore proves this.

First, it’s kinda silly to compare quality of story between the hobbit and Lord of the Rings. The hobbit is clearly a kids story. Smaug was absolutely perfect, the second movie was a perfect blend of darkness and comedy. I find hate a lot of the kidification though. It seemed to me like they were unsure if they wanted it to be a kids movie or an adult movie.

I personally don’t think they would have a choice with Halo. if they do any justice to the flood, it will be R. Let’s hope they lean into that!

Can get we link to that statement?

Spielberg also made Terra Nova. he kind of sells his name. I am a little skeptical of a TV show. As much as I love game of thrones, And as much as I think that Star Wars is garbage, star wars has MUCH better CGI. All TV shows struggle with special effects.

I think with the recent unsuccessfulness of the Warcraft movie, a Halo movie might not be in order, or at least being discussed behind closed doors, as the feasibility of such a project becomes less viable.

I was surprised, I never played the game but I thought the movie was great. Why did it flop?

Honestly I think Jackson could actually work well in the universe. I’ve not long finished watching the appendices to all LotR and Hobbit films and they really show just how much passion he has for his work, what he gives and puts into it. His team and the folks at Weta could wonders, especially with a little work from Blur too.

Jackson’s work on the LoTR trilogy was superb, absolutely flawless, and whilst the Hobbit was more tailored to a kids audience, and most certainly do not live up to their predecessors, it can’t be said he’s bad at his job, nor that they’re bad films.
However, I do think an animation might be a considerable option as opposed to a live action one. Though I’d expect the costs for a Blur quality full feature film to be immense.
