This isn’t an apologist thread. The progression is bad (better since update but not perfect), there’s no modes, the monetization is awful, and not being able to choose to just do Slayer kinda sucks.
That being said, I think it’s worth pointing out that this is some of the most fun I’ve had in an MP in a long time. I have more fun here than in Halo 3. The movement is really good, the shooting is really good, and the sandbox is really tight and satisfying (except the commando, please adjust the reticle bloom on it). Even the maps just feel really good. I love how Oddball plays (even the 2 hit melee isn’t so bad), Strongholds requiring 2 points to score is a great way to allow teams to come back from domination, Total Control is a great take on 3-CP, and I even like Stockpile (fite me irl). The map selection is also fine. Yeah there’s only a few, but I’d rather a few really good maps that I enjoy learning the flow of, rather than a bunch of awful maps that feel like a chore to learn.
I’m not saying all this because I don’t think there isn’t anything worth complaining about (quite the contrary), but I’ve seen too many people act like the game has nothing going for it, when in reality the gameplay is top notch and beats out the competition. I feel once the awful progression system gets fixed fully it will be the strongest game on the market. Also, some of y’all are cringey spamming “Fix this!” on every single post related to Infinite, even saying it to community managers who don’t even develop the game.
