In my opinion Halo Wars: DE is a game that has its ups and downs. There are obvious issues in the pc ports of transferring mechanics originally focused through a joystick for mouse and keyboard control. The multiplayer in my opinion is great for preparing new and old players that pre-order Halo Wars 2: UE Bundle. I understand there are many who wish that there was a more competitive multiplayer system, but I feel that the system in place know is a more modern take on RTS multiplayer, a system that even games like StarCraft 2 have incorporated into their matchmaking systems. As for the graphics, they are at a rate that seems to help the game look like a average game of 2014 which is great considering the age of the game. I do wish there was some work put into the story cutscenes like they did in the MCC Halo 2 remaster. Overall I find the game enjoyable for a RTS. Would give the Xbox One version a 6/10 and the PC version even with some awkward controls, with the added army grouping would give it a 8/10.
So I suggest getting HW:DE with the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars 2, for you get the game for practically nothing based around all other dlc and season pass in the bundle
If you only care about campaign is a good buy, if you are wanting to play competitive multiplayer than there is no point in buying it right now.
Would be nice if the unit grouping worked on the Xbox one version. Even if I had to plug in a keyboard to utilize it. Attacking from multiple fronts is a pain with the press and drag cursor.

I agree with you on that one, why couldn’t they map it with a controller, all they need to do is one of the bumpers and the a,x,y,b buttons or d pad. May be a limit on groupings but still would have been helpful.
Sorry accidental double post

The multiplayer can be made competitive, but they might not bring competitive. To me it seems like the games DE was never to make it competitive, but to prepare new players for a console rts experience

no function of the lobby multiplayer encourages competition. For PC games you have to set up tournaments to get competitive games
