Personal ordnance- something has to be fixed!

Okay I really like the idea of global ordnance, prevents a lot of camping on power weapons.
Anyway personal ordnance is a different story- I like the concept, but not how it’ being delivered…
I’ve read similar posts on this, and I’m finding I quite like suggestions on arranging the weapons into tiers, and also giving an ammo drop as an option.

Now let me state my opinions and try to back it up with facts.

I believe that a player should be rewarded for doing well or actibaly playing in a game, however currently some of the rewards are a bit over the top. It is not really fair that one person gets needler, grenades and speed boost, while another player gets binary, damage boost and rockets for example.

This is why I agree with the ‘Weapon tiers’. For example the first ordnance is something like, ammo, grenades, needler or speed boost
2nd ordnance is shotgun, overshield, concussion, perhaps Splaser or sniper/beam rifle or sword.
3rd ordnance is like rockets, fuel rod, Icannon, damage boost, binary, the god weapons.

That way people who are high contributers can get a decent reward at 3rd ordnance (Hard to get btw in a game), while it stil rewards those who aren’t quite as active.
Overall it balances the game out bit more.

Last thing is that I’ve noticed that people who are level 130, or have a K/D near 2, don’t ever seem to get good ordnance, compared to the ‘lower people’ (No offense intended)
I frequently get needler, speed boost and grenades as my options, yet other people who I play with who have a KD closer to 1, get much better choices…?

I think the biggest/best guns should be on map ordinance only, personal rocket launchers shouldn’t go to anyone let alone the best player in the game,

or make it no spare clips unless you have ammo mod, then you get one(maybe bump up for rail guns)

I don’t really agree with a tiered system that gives more to better players, I don’t need another nail for some noobs coffin(or mine) players that struggle to nail 10 kills a game get the added bonus of the enemy getting extra power weapons? Straight up bs

No that would not be bs. Kills and sprees earn ordnance faster. And 7 kills alone is what is required to get your first ordnance and that increases by 30 percent after each one. All together, it would take about 24 kills to get to your third ordnance. Even sooner if your gettin spree medals. Things like assists take a while to add up when your trying to get your second or third ordnance.

So i basically feel like tiers would reward the best with the best weapons. That is good for the losing team too because sometimes you can have maybe 1 or two good players on a team of five.

There should be some type of systematic progression or reward structure that is standard when it comes to personal ordinances. Something whereas we can expect certain types of weapons or power boost based upon how we achieved the kills and potentially how fast we accumulated the kills. This should also be listed so that we can understand it. I know the intent was for it to be random, but one person gets a Needler, the other… a Binary Riffle… another player will bet the Incendiary Cannon with no rhyme or reason. Maybe it’s time go move from the randomness to something systematic to avoid the unfairness of how the ordnances are given. That way there can still be a sense of randomness but within an understandable structure.

Any thoughts?

I’ve mentioned the Tier concept myself here and agree with it greatly. Do better, be rewarded more. People may hate it but it works well in COD

honestly there are some good ideas here but it still makes it unfair in matchmaking i somehow get stuck with the worst players possible and the other team is stacked with power weapons leading to a near shutout. i could see a tiered system leading to an even more one sided game.

You do have a point, but you can also kill them and take their power weapons. :=)

You can choose everything else for your loadouts, add something to choose ordnance drops as well.

All you need is a system that each weapon costs X score to call down. Then they’d just have to implement a way of dealing with multiple ordnance costs. Either tiers, where if you always want a Binary rifle to be your ordnance, you can only pick other weapons on the binary rifles tier(needless to say the most expensive tier) for your calldown.

Or you could have it be where you can put in multiple tiers, but have it work one of two ways… Either you get to your first tier (say, needler, grenades, etc) you can select something, or hold the calldown and build it up to the next tier… Or you could have ordnance be a sort of currency. You select the shotgun, the speed boost, and the incendiary cannon as your 3 slots for your calldown, and each has a specific cost in points to call down. Spend the points early when you get to the speed boost, or save it for the incendiary cannon? Your choice.

Then you just balance the tiers/point costs so people aren’t getting incendiary cannons every 5 kills or some such nonsense. However, someone getting a needler or a grenade refill every 5 kills isn’t that game breaking… and if the player would rather have the needler calldown every 50 points rather than the binary rifle calldown every 120 points… It’s in the players hands.

The Randomness in personal ordnance drops

Is one of the worst things about Halo 4 and it’s even worse in BTB

Games are won and Lost because of Luck

I hate rolling the dice and hoping for the best…

Personal ordinance Drops need to be tiered or structured in a way that provides balance for everyone

I for one really like the set PODs in Throwback. But this tier idea sounds like it might work and provide more variety than the set PODs. Of course it has to be properly executed but I like it.

Although it’s not just Personal Ordnance that needs fixing, it’s just Random Ordnance in general.
