Personal AI

I wonder if our Spartans could get a personal AI,either that or be able to have an AI for a team in a firefight like game mode when we’re not playing as chief or Locke

Do you mean something along the lines of the personal companions in Star Wars: The Old Republic?

It’s been a popular idea that’s popped up every now and then.

Game play wise they’d effectively be custom announcers with different voices and other options you can unlock with the original announcer being the default voice of course.

Other options can include how you’re HUD looks, how the AI behaves, how the AI looks and maybe with the new Kinects voice commands you can control how you interact with it.

On a canonical level it’s a natural step for the Spartan program for every Spartan or at the very least every Fire team to have one on hand given how successful John was with Cortana. If you look at a lot of Halo 4’s helmets you can already see that the AI slots are there.

The problem is that smart AIs are expensive and as it is the UNSC simply wont be able to meet demand. So unless a giant leap in AI tech happens we’ll probably end up using dumb AIs instead. At best we’ll probably end up with something like what the Freelancers had in RvB.

On a development level it could be pretty strenuous on 343 to do this with them having to hire a lot more voice actors and having to create all the extra options. It’s something that 343 don’t really have to do to make a good game so I can’t see them taking the time to do this when there’s so many other things that they’re probably concentrating on.

Overall I’d love to see this in Halo and I think it would be really cool but I’m not holding my breath.

I’d be fine with this, as long as I doesn’t affect gameplay.

Thanks for yalls opinions

I’d love to see more peoples ideas on it

Yeah, it would certainly add a level of personalization to the canon aspect of multiplayer. If not, it would at least be cool to be able to choose new voices for the multiplayer announcer that could carry over to be it’s own character in Spartan Ops, should it return. Either way, I think it would be cool.

I’ve never heard this idea before… and I think it’s freakin’ brilliant.

Yeah, Smart AI’s wouldn’t work. Dumb AI’s like Auntie Dot, on the other hand, would fit perfectly.

As for production costs, I’d say they could sit on it and develop it as DLC, like CoD: Ghosts’s announcer packs, but that’d be a PR nightmare because of all the people who would lose their minds for no good reason.
