Persistent Character Progression?

I know there’s a lot of talk going around about how disappointed people are with Halo 5. I can’t comment, I haven’t got hands on with it yet (just bought Fallout 4), but there’s one piece of game design that Bungie brought to the table that I’m really disappointed that 343i haven’t picked up; persistent character progression.

In Reach you would play any game mode and you would work towards a centralised goal; your character’s armour. You could then use that character in every mode. As somebody who doesn’t get time to play online much, and generally prefers co-operative or PvE game modes anyway, this system was great. No matter style of game you preferred the game rewarded you.

In Halo 4 I was sad to see this gone, but understood given the Chief being back in the driving seat, and Spartan Ops kind of made up for it (kind of).

Now in Halo 5 we had the potential to control Locke’s armour. Earn REQ points from Campaign. Persistence across all game modes.

This isn’t going to stop me buying the game. I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting soon (maybe around Christmas), but I just wanted to see how many others enjoyed the persistence of Reach and would’ve liked to have seen that translated into Halo 5 and it’s REQ system.
