I am not a partern of youtube just can make money off of videos i post, Im wondering if i can get permission to use Halo content without any problems collecting ad revenue.
well they say it cant be video game footage. you get permission your fine but it also cant be coppywrited music.
and BS angel or other moderators i dont think have permission to allow you to turn on ads, it would have to go to legal department possibly, or maby just frank o conor
I would think you have to contact 343 directly for something like this. You can give BS Angel a try and maybe she can point you in the right direction.
From Youtube:
> Which videos are NOT eligible?
> Your video is not eligible if it contains content that you didn’t create or get permission from its creator to use. You need to be able to show written permission for the following video elements:
>
> -Audio: recorded music, live performances, cover songs, background music, etc.
> -Visuals: images, logos, software, video game footage, etc.
> Any other content you don’t own worldwide commercial usage rights to.
What exactly do you intend to do with it?
Yes indeed that is why im asking for that permission, i only do such things as commentaries or fail clips thats about it.

For user made assets (Grifball Highlight Frenzy, Halo Panoramas, Montages, etc…), use the verbiage found on this page. The part you want to include in your videos would be: “[The title of your Item] was created under Microsoft’s “Game Content Usage Rules” using assets from [Name of the Microsoft Game], © Microsoft Corporation.”
Also, be sure to link the same page I did when you post it in your video details.
For making money off of Halo such as a profit from making ads (and ad clicks), I think that would be a nogo.
I got an email from youtube. more than once, asking me to request partnership.
Problem is, my most watched videos are halo. So unless I get permision, it would be a no go for me I guess.
But I would love to make money off of youtube that way I can buy my friend an xbox 360.
> This will answer your question. Microsoft’s rules for content.
I’m really confused. Does this mean I can have google ads on this video: Link?
Veronica didn’t seem too sure.
Let’s make this simple and clear:
You cannot use Halo assets for profit. The legalese that they have for us to put on our pics, vids, etc. is to say that we do have permission from MS to use their products for our own fun and use, but not for profit. Ads=profit.
You cant use it to make profit without permission from Microsoft. That’s how Rooster Teeth haven’t been shut down, because they had permission.
The Game Content Usage rules has this:
> •Except as described here, you can’t sell or otherwise earn any compensation from your Item, including through advertisements in the Item. We will let you have advertising or optional donation requests on the page hosting the Item, but that’s it
Which I would interpret, in my very limited legal knowledge, that yes, you could put ads next to/on top of the video and earn revenue from them.
If you’re worried, follow this:
> There’s still a way to do some of these things we’ve excluded, but you have to contact us for a commercial license. If you’re interested in doing that, send a mail to gamevidsatmicrosoft.com
I’m sure they would answer your question.
