I am attempting, to no avail so far, to find the appropriate channels to get permission to arrange certain tracks from the music of the first three Halo games.
Typically, with most music publishers, this entails a one time fee for the arrangement and/or public performance of the arrangement, but I am having a hard time finding this information in the specific context of the Halo original soundtracks. I do, however, know that the copyright of this IP is shared evenly between the composers and Microsoft Music, and also with Halo 3 specifically, not for profit use of the music is allowed free of charge due to an agreement with the composers. I don’t know if this covers musical arrangements, or if it’s only intended for gameplay videos and Machinima.
Perhaps somebody at 343 can help me find the correct channels for this inquiry.
