This may have been stated before, but I have not seen it so I thought I may as well suggest it anyway.
So the idea is indeed the “Classic Playlist” that many in the community want, but with a twist. It could be titled the “Throwback Playlist”, as the CE Throwback playlist is called right now, but instead of just Combat Evolved, we would have maps from Halo 2 and 3 as well. It would be a weekly rotational playlist that would start with CE, end with 3, then back to CE for a new cycle.
It would work with the player settings of a Classic playlist: no sprint, armor abilities, etc… It would also have the weapon starts of each respective game.
- CE - Assault Rifle / CE Magnum starts - 2 - SMG or BR / Magnum starts - 3 Assault Rifle or BR / Magnum startsIt would also use community made Forge maps as the current CE Throwback playlist does. The four maps per game could work, but I suggest at least five to six maps for each title. Because I don’t know if you guys feel the same way, but the same four maps over and over right now gets kinda boring, so a few new maps would make it more enjoyable in the long run. That’s just the way I and my friends feel though. As for which maps, they could either take the most popular maps from each game and find the Forged variants if they exist, and if not they could commission a community cartographer to build said map if it does not exist already. Or they could do what they did for the Rotational playlists in the begging of Halo 5 and make a Community Poll here on Waypoint for us to vote which maps would make it into say the Halo 2 or Halo 3 sections of the playlist.
As for each “game” in the playlist, they would each have two standard modes: Team Slayer, and Capture the Flag since they are largely the most popular gametypes in Halo at the current moment. I was thinking of putting Assault in there as well, since I can see that working quite well with the Halo 2 and 3 portions.
As for how the playlist would rotate game: At the start of the week, Monday or whenever they update it, the game next in line would take its place for that week, and then be replaced by the game after that. So it would go CE, 2, then 3 for three weeks, then reset back to CE after the Halo 3 week is up. Having this as a permanent playlist would satisfy a large amount of people I feel. Not only would people get the classic playlist they want, but it wouldn’t just be limited to the same old experience that a single “game” would give you, since you would have three different options always rotating and keeping it fresh.
Well, for those of you that read this far, thank you and please let me know what you think about this rotating playlist idea and what additions/improvements you would make down below.
