I saw that. I dunno what’s going on, but 343 needs to figure it out quickly.
This thread made me laugh thank you
I’m not defending hateful comments. They shouldn’t be tolerated.
Having said that; initiatives to stop or reduce hate have been around decades and it’s never stopped in any meaningful way. People just aren’t nice.
I think a large part of it is the ability to remain somewhat anonymous as well. If you can get away with it without any serious repercussions then people will continue.
More needs to be done, but I don’t know what that ‘more’ is.
Literally just here for solidarity, dunno if permabans would be a proper fix but trans rights.
Also I dunno if it would help, 343 seems like it’s rotting from the inside out, but if Frank’s an islamaphobic misogynist on top of sucking at running Halo, maybe at least demote him and don’t leave him in a position of power?
Like I dunno, I feel like they have enough problems without having bigots casually bigotting about the office and on the internet.
Too much talk about rights. Let’s talk about wrongs. Or lefts.
In fact, why don’t we just make up new words to circumvent the whole issue.
Everyone here is now a potato bandit.
DON’T YOU GO MAKING UP WORDS FOR ME! I’LL MAKE MY OWN WORDS! LIKE… like… hmmmm…
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
… nah nevermind, potato bandit slaps.
Got a link to Frankies behavior?
I’d advise against posting it here, but it was all on ResetEra. Can’t get in there using a free email provider so it’s all just devs.
I’m not sure what the hell goes down there, but the screencaps looked pretty bad from my perspective.
You won’t see anything blatant but it’s just weird comments. It was brought up on twitter.
Honestly, I don’t know what to think about that.
The problem i have is that you now have to invest much time to report someone: go to theatre, make tiny clips (otherwise the file size is to big!) and then find the website and fill in the report and upload the clips. This easily takes 30-60 minutes of time (depending how many clips you needed).
And then only to find out that 343 just responds with a lazy automated “we took apropriate actions” and nothing was being done. That is just realy frustrating. You need to invest a lot of time and they don’t even care. Even if they didn’t find it enough to (temp)ban someone, but only gave a warning or did nothing, just tell us then.
l_HyperLethal_l laid it out better than I can, like it’s honestly not much worse than some other stuff I’ve seen on the internet but when you run a company that makes one of the biggest shooter franchises in history and work for a massive corporation like Microsoft then it’s a pretty bad look.
It’s just gross, I never needed to know what charges Frank’s Spartan Laser but here we are.
wh-
Wait what? What happened?
I sincerely hope that after this 343i will remove the team chat as well, in the name of preventing toxicity. By toxicity, I’m primarily referring to OP, then the ones calling him names, in that order, because it seems to me that he’s being more toxic than them.
Then, only when the game will become a butchered mess and a shadow of its former self, maybe… big MAYBE… they will realize that the problem does not lie in what the game allows you to do and say, but in peoples’ culture and bad traits - especially entitlement.
To me it is entitlement that we are actually discussing trans rights for Halo, a video game (where you shoot to kill whatever’s breathing). People shouldn’t even be able to report anything other than cheating. People should be advised to disable any in-game features and block any people that bring them discomfort… and that’s the end of the story. There’s no more and shouldn’t be any more to it.
While I don’t condone toxic behavior, I don’t get why people need to express their sexual orientation, pronouns, dietary habits or who knows what in video games constantly.
There has been trash talking since the inception of online interaction/gaming and using a polarizing topic is just asking for trouble.
If your nickname was Trans_Furry_AnimeFan, I’ll give you 1-2 games till you’ll receive targeted insults.
Again I’m not okay with people being idiots but there are ways too minimize outside aggression.
It’s also a very good practice to just mute everything (chat, messages, etc.) since most people on this world are, in fact idiots.
Classic victim blaming… disgusting.
Video games with PvP especially is always open to toxicity and criticism of gameplay. People who put their entire lifestory in their profile or username is just feeding ammo to people who may have issues with them to insult them with.
And if the end result is you getting butthurt over what people said over the internet in a heated exchange, then damn, it may be almost entirely your own fault.
I have no idea why people aren’t smart with this.
The sodium bath below gets it, you apparently not.
Apples and bricks my friend.
If said victim would be using a nickname that expresses their past experience like “I was …”, I would greatly question their intelligence in choosing such a nickname in an online game which has absolutely nothing to do with these kinds of things.
No, it’s completely the same. It’s just the standard response from people like you ![]()
You are making up excuses for a non excuseable behavior. And even worse, you are blaming the victim of these behaviour to provoke it. And that, my friend, is utterly disgusting.
That’s their way. You don’t like theirs, and others won’t like yours. If you want to express your way of living in a video game and/or anything personal about you, be prepared to be ridiculed. You know - in the same manner you ridicule nerds and incels.
If words from remote total strangers can upset you, disable the chat for you only or mute those who upset you… and that’s the end of the story. No one else should care about how other players are upsetting you, unless they are cheaters, since that actually has got something to do with the game and is not about you.
You are still missing the point; your comparison is quite lacking, and I can’t help you with that. In no way, I am excusing or justifying immoral behavior but suggesting ways to minimize your own targetability.
Nice move with the comparison of sexual assault and throwing a tantrum about what people write online…
Since you fail to understand that, I can only think of you as one of those people that are the reason coffee cup makers have to print “Caution! Hot liquid inside” on the top of coffee-to-go cups.
