Perma bans for people saying mean things is just petty and ultimately doesn’t help anything. Especially with the fact that this is F2P so they can easily create another account to play on
Is it acceptable behavior? No but permabanning them doesn’t give them room to grow and just promotes this idea that because they said dumb things, they’ll always say dumb things and it could push them towards the actual position of what they said.
I don’t know how anybody could function in the real world if they get upset every time somebody uses aspect of another person’s character to insult them because that is the most common way to insult someone.
I do, happily. But I also report that toxic behavior because other people shouldn’t also have to be blindly harassed. This is literally how the platform functions. I’m more so concerned with 343 taking a more strict or firm approach to handling this kind of stuff.
Guessing our discussion is over as you’ve ignored my questions but enjoy your little moment in the limelight, I hope the abuse stops and I’ll see you on the battlefield.
Mentally self-destruct is such a bad faith interpretation of what I’m trying to discuss. I’m talking about the terms of a system that already exists on the platform. Also, I encourage you to look up the fart that started a war. People have always been petty. I consider myself to be pretty lenient as far as the kind of behavior I will personally tolerate.
I feel like my initial response was adequate enough. A lot of that was just you rephrasing the same questions, so I just responded to the most important bit.
Humanity has survived a lot of things but that is hardly the measuring stick of good now is it? Genocide, plagues, nuclear proliferation. By that logic literally everything in human history is fine because the species still exists.
You do not need to speak or listen or write to anyone to play or to have fun or to play as a team. I’ve been doing it for 20 years. I’d rather listen to Pink Floyd than a “rat boy” talking nonsense. Anyway, whoever knows how to play Halo knows what to do.
Other than that, it’s not about being trans or straight or queer or plumber. The more you expose yourself in a community, the more adult you have to be to accept what you don’t like.
Just have fun and use your empowerment in a less trivial place than an absurd shooter video game.
Feels hard to believe you’re frequently getting people in matches harassing you in text chat because your name has the word trans in it. Not only is that behavior risky, but borderline pointless, unless someone is really bored. Thread feels like cap, and will likely be locked for being unproductive bait unrelated to Halo Infinite, but if you’re genuinely being constantly harassed day in and day out over your name, get some screenshots and report them on Xbox Live, because I’m 600+ matches in and virtually never see anyone use text chat
Look, whatever happened, there were two options you could have chosen:
Turn away
Throw a fit
Like I said, sticks and stones.
If words cut this deep for you then maybe you should just not bother staying online anymore. It’s not like people insulting you based on orientation is the end of the world, and besides online, people use whatever ammo they can use just to hurt you verbally.
The way I see it, I highly doubt the people you have beef with are true bigots, they are just using whatever ammo they can use to insult you because you kinda come off as a pretty petty and easily infuriated individual. Takes two hands to clap and all that. So just block and report, and let it be. Jesus christ.
Sure it does. It’s a direct dis incentivization of that behavior.
I think there are ways to plan around that. Having to have your progression and purchases be tied to an Xbox account is a good example. I think a 24 hour communications ban for new players would also contribute greatly to reducing that stuff.
I don’t care about how random strangers on the internet grow. It just does not enter my internal calculus when considering this topic. I hope people generally grow and learn, but I don’t think Xbox Live or Steam is what needs to facilitate that.
I disagree. I just don’t have any reason to believe that.
Neither do I. I just think applying the same level of discourse you’d hold a McDonalds to, in the lobbies of Halo Infinite is justifiable.
I appreciate you taking the time to type out that response, really, even if I disagree. I thought your response was thoughtful.
I’m not down. Been temp banned 3 times for saying -Yoink!-. I thought it was our word but nobody seems to care. We get shot by the cops left and right, some -Yoink!- online saying mean things is nothing. Be a grown up and mute these people. The end.
I encourage you to go back up and read my initial post. I figured I made it clear that I open myself up to harassment online. Case in point, my username. My issue is with how the platform’s TOS is enforced. I would like this to be a nice place to be for EVERYONE, not just me, or the other transes, or whatever.
If their behavior is indistinguishable from that of an actual bigot then I don’t really care. The outcomes are the same.
Other people don’t have gamertags like Freaking-Cis or Freaking-Str8.
Other people have nicknames and little oddities about themselves to display as their gamertag etc There are exceptions naturally. For example mine came from the fact that I have large broad shoulders, called Deltoids, that my gym peers are envious of.
There is a solution that you ,and everyone else, can immediately say will resolve this issue. I think you probably prefer the attention, positive or negative, over being ignored.
You’re naming yourself after a personal trait that is misunderstood and ridiculed by the target audience of videogames. Oblivious teenagers. What reaction did you think you’d have?
Gee, maybe you should be banned because you attract so much hate to yourself. You’re starting to sound as toxic as the people who probably took your bait.
My gamertag used to be Mhx Fuxxing Air since 2007 until sometime around 2016 someone reported me for something and I was forced to change it, since Fuxxing somehow broke TOS. Not sure how OP is allowed to have Freaking. If someone one day reports them, they might have their account suspended too tbh. I honestly don’t understand how it works.
Honestly I wanna know how you have been conducting yourself online.
I highly doubt the hate is flying at you from all directions for no reason. You must have done SOMETHING to trigger a response, and it so happens your user ID is something to use to insult you, and somehow you are offended with this and want a solution for it.
You know, there is a pretty easy solution, and that is to have your name changed. In fact, I think if a proper case and report is made against your name for valid reasons (eg. inciting uncomfortable topics for both user and others), MS may be obliged to force a name change.
Would you like that?
EDIT: In fact, I wonder how your pfp made it through the moderation, could probably get Account moderation to look into that too and force a change as well.
