It’s probably me but I don’t understand the perma bans for waypoint. The bans for one or two weeks work fine. Because you do take the time to think it over and you will be cooled down when you return. But the perma ban?! No it will only irritate you since you can never post again with that account here.
The idea of a perma ban is to stop that user from posting again on waypoint. But, it doesn’t work. As you can easily create a new account within one minute and continue posting. Meaning you don’t take the time to cool down. And you just start posting again only this time under a different name. And your post history/rank is lost but that’s it.
With a temporary ban 1 or 2 weeks for example you won’t create a new account because you know that your own account will be returned to you in a matter of days.
So my question is. Why is there something like a permanent ban here? As I don’t understand the logic of it.
Excluding a few extreme, highly-severe offenses, we give users plenty of opportunities to improve their behavior before applying a permanent ban. When we permanently ban a user, it’s because they’ve made it clear that nothing we do will improve their behavior; they’ve demonstrated that forcible removal is the only thing that will stop their misconduct. As for the possibility of permabanned users coming back under another name, we have rules against the use of alternate accounts. Alternate accounts are permanently banned.
So you are saying it’s justified to ban a user for live? So that user that can never return to talk about Halo 5/6 or whatever other Halo news is revealed? It’s just like Kefwi said a permanent ban only grows anger, it does not teach the person anything.
The real problem is that there is no way for the user to redeem himself/herself. To be able to proof that they have changed. No matter how just or unjust their ban is.

> Is there any way for me to appeal my ban?
> You are allowed to appeal your ban if the ban length is 7 days or longer. You should email your appeal to community@halowaypoint.com and include “Forum Ban Appeal – [Your Gamertag}” in the title.

> This does not guarantee that your ban will be overturned, but it will be investigated and responded to.

> If your ban is not at least 7 days in length and you write in requesting an investigation, your original ban will be extended to 7 days.
