"Perks" as pickups?

I’m not sure how these “perks” will work. We just know that you get them from your armor.

I believe that we should start matches equally. No one should have an advantage over someone who has played less than them.

Now here is an idea to make these “perks” fair. There should be a custom powerup or something similar on the map that you have to fight for, like in Halo 3 with overshield and camo. The custom powerup will activate said “perks” that you have chosen before the match started.

There can even be multiple ones on the map so everyone gets a chance to use their “perks”.

I wish that “perks” wouldn’t be in the game, but I think that this will make it tolerable. (Assuming that there will be unfair advantages)

TL;DR: Everyone starts the match equally and has to fight for a pickup that activates your predetermined “perks”.

Thoughts?

That would be interesting to see implemented in certain gametypes, though I for one am looking forward to seeing how these “perks” will work in the way Halo 4 was intended.

That would be tolerable, Although I don’t see it working like that.

I highly doubt a ton of time will be spent creating and balancing perks for them to be used by 1 person every couple of minutes for 30 seconds.

Anything as a pickup is 1000x times better for Halo.

It’s not only tolerable, but you can get away with so much more.

You can have the most crazy, OP effects and nobody will care (well some things are simply annoying like armor lock but anyway) if they are pick-ups because that WORKS for Halo.

… This is pretty interesting.

Though I want to see how these “perks” work as 343 intended. If I don’t like it, I’ll come back to this thread.

Well maybe there can be multiple on the map, or something similar to Custom Powerups. Like maybe 1 per base/side, but not easily obtainable.

Then there can be playlists without Custom Powerups so you can’t use the “perks”.

interesting and, at first sight, tolerable indeed.

It would be important to make someone with the OP perk powerup stand out though. Perhaps a white forced color or a flaming head.

I suppose, and to be honest, if this is how perks were implemented, I wouldn’t really have a problem with them.

Interesting, but it’s never going to happen

How come everybody is brainstorming different ideas for these so called “perks” but when somebody makes a thread saying that they don’t want perks in halo, people deny that the game will have perks by saying “show me the link where 343 said halo 4 has perks”

Oh well…I’m still interested in how 343 will do it.

1 maximum per map? I could accept this.

So essentially you would be picking up a custom power up with your predetermined ability? Not a horrible idea, but I feel like its going to be different than that.

This is what ive been advocating. The choice belongs to the player what enhancement they go into battle with, but the effect is dependent on pickups in game.

I also think the “perks” you pick should be visibly obvious to your opponents a la jet pack.

Isnt this more or less overshield and active camo pickups?

I’m pretty sure that it has been announced that perks form part of your armour. I do not see how they can be pick ups.

Not perks. They are armor generated enhancments to ones playing style. I dont know about you, but im not sure i like the idea of starting off naked and having to pick up my armor.

That’s the fun part :D, but it could turn out to be hell. I doubt it though. I’m positive that 343 isn’t going to drop the bomb on us with these perks/enhancements(watev).

Edit: It’s a pretty interesting idea; fighting over the perks you already had layed out…hmmm

Do you think there should be a limit to how long your power up perk lasts?
