Perhaps I was wrong

About halo’s competitive settings.

Earlier today I was playing team throwdown and was having a blast doing it. That playlist is quite fun. Not having a motion tracker is actually something I enjoy. I was free to just run amok flanking and surprising people. There is considerably more room to outsmart people.

I regret criticizing it before and I do hope halo 5 has a throwdown playlist.

I’m going to be playing it more often, it really is a refreshing break from the infinity monotony. What do you think of team throwdown?

I only visit Throwdown from time to time because it’s often populated by people that I don’t stand a chance against, and are almost always in a team together.

I don’t have a group of buddies to play with (And the only few I have aren’t interested in it due to its low population) so I tend to stick to Action Sack and sometimes SWAT or Ricochet.

I do enjoy it for the most part though, especially 1-Site Extraction, and it really reminds me of my local-screen Halo 2/3 games.

This.

Ahh yes they are good players, but you can beat them!

Since you do not have a radar, it is imperative that you pay very careful attention to your allies. Watch their positions closely, and purposely position yourself in a spot with your back to them so they cover your flank and you theirs.

When their tags light up yellow and red, try to logically deduce where enemies are and get over to help, and flank if you can.

Also use your mic. Learn the callouts and let your team know where an enemy is when you see one. I can’t imagine any team throwdown player resenting you or muting you for doing this and it really helps.

There is absolutly no reason you couldn’t put up a fight if you do these things.

Throwdown is terrible. Ordinance messes with the maps, as they are not affected by Max on map nor can their max ammo be set. In a playlist where the maximum amount of ammo a weapon hold at the start really matters, it’s a huge flaw. also, the recharge times are way to slow, but that’s Halo 4 in general. The maps are mostly good though. And sprint is the nail in the coffin. You can still run away from a fight like a little noob. They have the ability to remove it (Lightning Flag0 so why won’t they!? the competitive community, the part that actually plays throwdown, are the people who hate sprint. why is sprint there!?

In the EU tournaments, sprint is disabled and some weapons are drastically altered. These should be throwdowns settings.

Could you go into a bit more detail about these EU tournament setting Darkrain? You caught my interest. So they disabled sprint? What are some of these weapon alterations, specifically.

Less auto aim for every weapon and no bloom for the flagnum.
Just search for EU V1 settings in the file browser or send me a message and I put them into my file share if you are interessted. You play it in 8 player custom lobbys.
I still prefer throwdown because there is no extraction in the EU settings and I dont really like the gametypes.

CTF: The Pit, Skyline, Simplex, Dispatch
Slayer: Abandon, Heaven, Onyx
Odball: The Ark, Onyx

Glad to hear you like throwdown. Its at least a beginning…

Ditto. If more friends played it…

A slightly more refined version of what i showed you, but with less inventive changes, version 4 of what i showed you is very different from version 3. It’s flaw is to little aim assist though. V3 had a perfect amount. V4 is like playing with none.

It’s always better to give something different a real chance before you form an opinion on it. It’s good that you found something you liked OP.
So what I’m getting from everyone else is that Throwdown is pretty much this game’s MLG playlist for the most part, right?

To AceRay96: Yes Throwdown is Halo 4’s version of MLG settings, although MLG itself has nothing to do with Halo 4.

To the OP: I’m actually surprised to see this kind of thread get posted from you, shootin sammy, as you are usually promoting/defending Infinity settings. But, from your current new insight into Team Throwdown(Halo 4’s ultra competitive settings), do you have a bit more understanding as to why almost everyone on these forums is against most of the Infinity settings?

Infinity settings are much more casual and luck/crutch based and is why most Halo fans despise them. Throwdown and Legendary BR settings are much more skillbased and thus much more fun to play and they revolve arround classic Halo(except for flinch and sprint) unlike Infinity settings.

Throwdown and Legendary BRs show that Halo 4 can still be a skillfull and competitive game despite flaws such as flinch and sprint.

I would also recommend Legendary BRs shootin sammy if you want to experience Throwdown style settings in a less-hardcore way. I’m curious to see as to what you think.

Yea I do like ledgendary BRs quite a bit, that’s a good gametype. It is a nice change of pace after a few infinity games.

The thing I like best about it is not having to worry about your loadout. Takes the pressure of that off. The thing people may not realize about me is that although I prefer infinity I still enjoy a good game of legendary.

Competitive Halo has always been the best.

Not a big fan of those gametypes. I rather do Team Slayer (loadouts but no personal ordinance), legendary slayer is funner too. Motion tracker.
