Instead of puting Bloom on the DMR to make it balanced, why dont 343 just make the DMR a 5 shot weapon with no bleedtrough and the BR a 4 shot weapon with bleedtrough?
Then they would just have to adjust the max rate of fire of both weapons to make the kill times exactly the same and they would be perfectly balanced.
The DMR would be good an mid to long range and the BR close to mid range because of bullet spread.
I dislike AAs but i can live with them, but Bloom just killed Reach and has no place in a Halo game.
The better player should win a 1v1 situation everytime and not the luckier player.
Waiting for the reticule to reset is just simply limited, because while waiting for the reticule to rest the enemy player can shoot 3 times and likely get a lucky headshot. Spamming is superior to pacing the shots, bloom just simply failed and should be buried now.

i agree, bloom it´s a total failure. but as far as i know, dmr bloom it´s going to be a guide to the set rate of fire, like on the sniper. in fact it looks like it´s going to be a very nerfed sniper rifle, interesting imo.
If the kill times were exactly the same, (as they are now, a 4-shot BR from 3 takes the same time as a 5-shot DMR from Reach), then the DMR would out-perform the BR every time with better accuracy, a 3x scope, and semi-auto. The DMR definitely needs a ROF reduction.

Good point you are right. I think the DMR should have a slightly slower kil time than the BR then, like a .3-.5 secs.
Frank saying that bloom was basically essential for balance, was laughable to say the least. If the best they could come up with was bringing back a wildly unpopular mechanic then I have lost all faith in 343. Bloom is an absolute game breaker and if it even slightly resembles reach, then I’m done. I can’t handle it anymore. I don’t feel I accomplished anything by killing this guy, nor do I feel that I was out gunned when I die. I just feel lucky or unlucky. There has got to be 50 different ways they could’ve avoided bloom here. All of which are VASTLY superior to the stupid random circle of prayers we have now.

Yes. This. Read it Frankie.
Bloom in Halo 4 will only be there to visually represent the fixed R.O.F. of the DMR like how it was in Halo: Reach with the Sniper Rifle.
DMR should bleed, but should fire slower than a BR. Bloom, if anything, makes the DMR more usable at closer ranges.
Close range- BR > DMR
Mid range- BR = DMR
Long range- BR < DMR

I’m glad you already have the game and can tell us this sort of information.
All we know about the DMR bloom is that you don’t have to pace “as much,” and that the bloom resets faster than it did in Reach.

Even without bloom people will still spam.
> Even without bloom people will still spam.
How? If you’re not firing at the maximum efficient rate, you’re doing it wrong.
There is no spamming without bloom. Nobody “spammed” their BR, and certainly nobody “spammed” their Pistol. That was just a term coined by Reach.
The bloom is totally different from Halo: Reach’s. 343i even calls it “bloom” because it’s not exactly the same crappy thing we remember.

I’m positive that they’ve said it before.

I guess Halo: CE was broken then because it had bloom…

They have. I remember fondly.

Halo CE didnt have “bloom” it had spread. Information taken from that one video that was linked on this site.
I don’t really mind Bloom. It makes it so you get rewarded for pacing shots instead of spamming. Also, I don’t think they can make it so one weapon has bleed-through and another doesn’t.

4 shots to pop the shield an the 5th onefor the kill
No matter how they justify bloom it will always, ALWAYS create random, luck based gameplay if applied to precision weapons. There are countless ways to nerf a gun without giving it bloom, most of which are significantly superior to bloom. I hope for sanity sake that the DMR bloom is just visual based and there are other ways implemented to balance the weapon.
On automatic weapons bloom is okay. Yeah… I’m fine with that.

The DMR has a thrid more range than the BR, therefore it needs to have its own setbacks, bloom is a good compromise for this weapon. Although I believe that the bloom mechanic should operate differently: As your bloom expands your aim assist should dissipate, that way if you have amazing aim you can cheat the system, if not you will not be able to handle the effects. Thus creating equilibrium.
