Halo Infinite has some of the most satisfying gunplay I’ve experienced in a video game since Destiny 1 and previous Halo entries. Super fun, super engaging cool stuff. Really enjoy the feel of Halo Infinite and I know my friends and I all feel the same in that aspect.
BUT
For a game that’s spent so long in development that screwed up bad again. I think for the first year of this game there is just going to be no content. We already know Forge isn’t going to be here any time soon and they’re having engine problems programming game modes so we just get these stupid playlists. Damn 343, You guys really said here’s the best Halo yet and gave us nothing, can’t even play Slayer or Swat on launch you’re kidding right? No forge is permissible (kind of?) cause we know it’s a complex system but no Co-Op? That’s like 90% of fun from the Campaign… Halo on Legendary with your boys? Not in infinite. Why even release the game at all? They should have just kept it in dev. until this was fleshed out cause I bought Halo but I don’t see myself playing it much in the near future, outside of ranked it’s already boring and I may be in the minority here but I’m not a CTF or Oddball player which is like 70% of my matchmaking experience. There’s just not much to play. Campaign is super sick I’m a few hours in, but with no Co-op once it’s over… it’s over.
This is super rough and I think if there’s not major fixes to these problems by year end, the player base going into 2022 is going to be only the most diehard halo players.
Addition -
You make great points but then back to my original point, why release it at all, I’m not dumping the game on day 2 I’m going to be here playing Campaign until I’ve beaten it, and I wan’t to continue my battlepass unlocks (also stupid) my main concern is that they have this great combat system, but not enough to keep a large player base engaged. We’ve seen countless examples of this from AAA studios in the past few years.
Look at Battlefront 2, it grew into an amazing game free of all the issues that plagued it at launch, but the player base never recovered and the community suffered because of it. There’s much good here that we can’t experience in the way we’ve experienced past Halo games and it seems like they didn’t learn anything from Halo 5 launch.
Launch is an increasingly important part of a games development and games that botch that launch rarely recover. People these days have short attention spans, and sure we’ll all be here in a year, trying to queue for a game and barely able to get 10 players together in a lobby.
Wish I got whatever roll of the dice you’re getting. Halo being “Just slayer” is not what I said. - the frustration lies in the inability to choose what game modes I want to play and there not even being an option for slayer let alone Swat, snipers etc. is abhorrent.
people like you are the reason we continue to get sub-par games… Look at the tags of my post “Feedback” can you not read? I’m expressing dissatisfaction for a purchase, that’s like buying a car and them saying, oh you can use power steering in a month.
Multiplayer is FTP for everyone. You purchased the campaign.
I can see how co-op is rough on this one, as it’s a lot of open world. You try to start a main mission and your buddy is running around Spider-Man swinging around the map killing grunts. Who takes precedent? Do you just kill your friend and he has to go with you, or can he clear out the next FOB he was working on without you and you have to wait?
These fixes are not cut and dry easy fixes. A lot of people have never been involved in game development, or any form of software development it seems and think that some wizard flips a switch and they can have it immediately.
There are things that should be in from the start, I agree. Not having more game types, etc but if they have built a whole new system for FTP as well as open world(ish) campaign from the ground up then it will take time to change. Regardless of if it’s for money or what not. They have responded and they are working on things. Give them time.
If you’re going to dump a game day 2 because they don’t have a specific roadmap for you, alrighty then.
i bought the campaign as well… as well as the battle pass
The 60 alone is worthy of the little ive played in campaign so far. if youve played far cry, last of us, uncharted, cyberpunk or any other type of campaign game without online then why would you complain about 60 dollars for a campaign now? I paid 60 for Halo CE in 2001 as a 12 year old and it had half of what this game currently has. Funny thing was I had no complaints, go figure
Halo’s doing really well all things considered, player counts have been consistently high since the initial player drop off, especially if you compare it to releases around the same time like Battlefield.
You’re absolutely correct that there needs to be some changes and fixes, but the game has stood pretty steadfast so far.
