Per-match XP reward just for playing gives too much XP

I’m not the saying that you don’t but do you work I don’t have that kind of time on my hands to go through a battle pass that quick heck I wish we could earn XP in campaign but I know they’ll never happen because the stuff that’s available for multiplayer is not available for campaign wish it was

Yeah, this is a no from me. They can adjust the XP given, but not remove it if you lose. Even Reach didn’t have that, you still got XP for playing, win or lose.
They can do 250XP for winning, and 175XP for losing.
50XP for the top half.
75XP for MVP.
Edit: It also makes sense for BTB to give more xp just for playing, as the games are longer than the other playlists.

Are you serious? People complain about not getting enough xp, people complain about progressing through the battle pass to quickly. There no freaking middle ground because of people on both sides.

They’ve removed the daily unlimited pregame xp challenges and instead replaced it with 1 daily for just completing the game. They’ve reduced the total number of weekly challenges from 20 to 10 which seem to be lower xp rewarding each. This combination of reduced challenges and introduction of per match xp with bonuses for doing well seems decently balanced out. It encourages people to just play what they want to the best of their abilities and progress no matter what. It’s not over rewarding.

You also have to take into account that plenty of people don’t have time to just this game all day all the time. I usually only get a day I can play whatever I want and I have more games on my list than just Infinite. I shouldn’t have to grind a game to finish it. That’s not fun nor is fair. That’s disrespectful to the players time. Time, that thing you’ll never have more of than the moment you’re born. Why do you want to waste it not having fun, but instead grinding out games in one game so it lasts longer. If you’re having so much fun that you keep playing and finish the battle pass then just keep playing.

Don’t expect some form of shiny digital doodad every few minutes to keep you playing. Having fun should be what keeps you playing.

343 is working on a Career Progression system. Grinding to earn cosmetics seems like the silliest idea to me. Halo used to be about enjoying playing the game, the core game modes were enjoyable and gave you variety.

Infinite is so bare bones that players are saying we should throttle the ability to earn what barely there “content” there is? For what? To keep some players “grinding” through the same 4 maps and 2 gametypes to get a helmet they only see in an opening animation and menu?

Reach was fun, so the “grind” didn’t feel like a “grind”. You played the game modes you wanted and earned Credits over time to purchase armor. Halo 3, you completed certain challenges to unlock armor, but you got to play the game how you wanted. It just blows my mind we are now debating slowing down earning armor instead of talking about developing better game content to play and enjoy.

I was able to complete Season 2’s battle pass in a little over a months time. The max I played was an hour or two tops a day and I ignored every single challenge out right for that entire time. I only played game modes I enjoyed.

and yes, I do have multiple jobs and still managed this quite easily.

Tbh it’s good enough if you suck. Feels about as rewarding as MCCs just with smaller numbers. I’m satisfied. Now if they just shut that lady up who’s constantly berating you during every match you won’t feel like trash if you underperform I won’t hate playing multiplayer after a few matches like I do now.

We also have to remember, we’re used to over 6 month seasons with 100 tiers. And this 30 tier pass was literally designed for players to move through quickly and for 343 to collect their sample data. This 30 tier pass isn’t meant to last us until March. This current beta only feels fast to many of us because we’re too used to how slow it normally is. I’d expect some slow-down when we hit season 3, but not by a large margin.

So far this mini-taste of match XP seems to be in line with other shooters in terms of progression on a small timescale. We also have to remember that an actual progression system will be coming too alongside battle passes.

Personally I’m running into an issue where I completed all of my challenges so now my progression has turned into a snail pace again. The challenges are easier now, but since there are fewer XP gain opportunities, my progression is now suffering even with match XP. Not as bad as it used to be though. I feel like they need more rewards on personal and team achievements once the challenges are gone. Like maybe an XP multiplier for medals, or run your points-per-match through a formula and get a percent of match-points back as XP. I’ll take less challenge and match completed XP if it meant my personal performance was rewarded better. If you get lots of assists and team related medals that also gets a small multiplier. (not a multiplyer to your total XP, but just the one. Like if you get a killing spree that’s 10XP, but if you multiple then it multiplies that 10XP at a fixed rate. I’m not a mathematician though.) I don’t want match completion XP to be thrown out altogether. I would take less XP if more was given elsewhere. With my skill level and SBMM I’m not getting as much XP as I would like when I don’t have challenges.

If you play one match a day you end up with 650 to 800 XP.

Play one match a day and you’ll finish the Winter Update pass in 38 to 46 days.

I got something like 500 xp the first game I played of this new system and was absolutely blown away. It’s way too much xp for a single match.

You get 1 daily challenge that rewards 500xp for completing any match. You only have 10 challenges each week to for progression. Each match now rewards 150 for completion as well as bonuses for winning, mvp and top half of the team.

Outside of the daily you now get more per match xp than you would have previously, but the challenges offer far less than they did. Challenges only reward 50, 100 and 150xp. This is basically half of the previous offerings on top of half the number of weekly challenges.

People see these high numbers from the first match and freak out. If you keep playing you’ll see how much slower it goes after. If necessary I can do an average of xp before and after to show people the math.

250 if it’s a BTB match.

Those matches typically take longer to complete so they reward accordingly.
