people who say it should have ended at halo 3

clearly have no idea what story means
I wonder what halo 5s will be like

Story should have just continued in book and other media instead of putting out what 343 has.

How so? Stories can be ruined by dragging them on for too long. How many movies have been ruined by too many sequels? I play games primarily for the story and love the universe of halo but it still saddens me that we continue on to this point. Remember halo 3 was supposed to “Finish the fight”

It did end with halo 3 bungies halo ended! I wish ppl would use that mentality to stop trying to find reasons to go back I love the original 3 as much as the next guy. I would prefer new different halo over reading the books^^^. I love how 343 tells story and halo 5 fixes where halo 4 failed and I like where they are going with it. no it’s not like the original 3 and I’m okay with that because it ended after 3

Against the covenant and seeing as they are at peace we did. But there is so much more you cannot say you love the universe and not wanna dig into the forerunners and the flood even

I wouldn’t mind new Halo games but I think for a lot of people it’s not just the story that’s they worry about it’s the decline in quality if the game since Halo 3. I still feel as if although H5 is better than 4 it still cannot be classed as a true Halo game it feels sort of like a weird spinoff game you would find uploaded on some indie dev forums.

Hence why I went through the books there is a lot more story in the books than in all the games combined!

What are books?
Films?
Comics?
etc?

I get that. But with all these threads of how halo 5 would is a great game not a great halo game. I feel the quality is there they are solid games but they are really different or least they play differently. If we get a next gen forge The quality is there

I take it you never saw Halo 3’s legendary ending.

Ugh, Halo 3’s ending doesn’t really offer much of a conclusion to the series; There’s still many plot points lingering one.

  • Mendicant Bias’ contact with the Master Chief, and his decision to send him to meet his makers.- What will happen to the races after the dissolution of the Covenant.- The Gravemind hinting that it’ll return.- The problem concerning the dormant Halo arrays and Flood threat.- The Legendary ending.
There’s literally so many questions that Halo 3’s ending raised. It would have been quite unsatisfactory if that had been the end. And 343 Industries have done so much to expand the Halo story. The Forerunners are no longer humans, but a race in their own right with an interesting history. The Flood are now beautifully tied to Precursors. And Halo has gone on to incorporate some fantasy elements. Honestly’s Bungie’s original intentions for Halo are kind of dry compared to what we’ve seen from 343I.

Seeing as 343’s campaigns are so lore-driven that you have to read the novels in order to fully understand what’s going on, I don’t see why It couldn’t have just carried on in the books alone.

I don’t think that the forerunners were ever intended to be humans. Human were always set to be the reclaimers, it would’ve left more questions than it answered.

Like what Star Wars did for 2 decades? (All of which was erased just for some new movies) Hell no, I’d rather new games continue the lore than have books continue it and then have all be made irrelevant when someone comes around to reboot the game series.

Bungie’s Otto confirmed it himself. And Halo: Contact Harvest heavily hinted at it. It seems Bungie intended for humans to have been descendants of the Forerunner during Halo: CE and Halo 2, but retconned this with the addition of the terminals in Halo 3.

And take a look at the designs of Forerunners in the cancelled Halo MMO:

Yeah, and Dragon Ball season 5 was supposed to be the “stunning conclusion to an adventure of a lifetime”. Then after that starts Dragon Ball Z season 1.

You’re correct!

All I can say is that 343 is doing a far greater job in story development (maybe not escalation so much)
Bungie gave us a good foundation, though with many plot holes and questions to be answered. 343i extended the universe and tied up the loose ends.
