I talk to people I like…not to the countless “bros” who think they’re leading Seal Team Six and go on a tirade against their team everytime something doesn’t go their way. Not saying you’re one of those people, Steve, but that’s normally what I encounter while playing the game.
Why just the other night I had some dude calling our entire team a bunch of “N***ers”. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. It was simply because he couldn’t believe our team had lost the Spire. We lost the Spire, and the rest of the game was nothing but a bunch of swearing, put downs, and "OMFG, THERE’S NO WAY THAT GRENADE GOT ME!!! WHERE THE -Yoink- IS MY TEAM?!?!? (nevermind we ultimately stopped the opposition at the Armory and won the game)
Xbox Live has become a toxic environment, where even a simple “Hi” is often met with some homophopic slur, a demand to shut the -Yoink- up, etc. Best just to keep the chit-chat among friends…in a closed party. Sad, but that’s the reality. Most everyone is either a sweaty tryhard with a short fuse or simply a troll looking to piss on someone. Hard to find actual mature players, so I tend to keep my mic on my shelf, collecting dust unless I’m in a party with friends.
Call out all you want. If I’m there, I’ll listen. No way I’m plugging in my mic, though.
I get pissed easily when i’m competitive so i’m pretty sure no one wants to hear my loud senseless ranting… so i just don’t even use my mic EVER unless i’m talking to friends…

I think it’s a side effect of gaming becoming more mainstream; 10 years ago, people played for the sake of the game. Today, games tend to be a convenient backdrop to socialize, like when women go a football game just to snapchat/instagram/latest vanity-enabling flavor of the month application pictures of themselves making a duck face or some -Yoink-. tl;dr casuals

That sounds about right Everytime I log in haha. I have a mic plugged in and will chat when others do, but normally just call things out as I don’t get much feedback.

I think if there was a pregame roster so you could see who is on your team would have more of an impact on in game communication. It seems silly but I like to talk with my teammates before the match. It makes it easier.

Yes. Playing a game with your friends for the sake of being bros/sistahs is a new concept that wasn’t around 10 years ago, and is definitely worthy of being compared to a self-inflating ego fueled by trendy websites. Yep. Totally.

I think what he was trying to say is that people like to play online with their friends, even if that means just being in a party while playing totally different games, instead of communicating with strangers in their own game. At least, I hope that’s what he was trying to say.
these party chat noobs are the same people who post " my team sucks" yet they cant get out of party chat to try to play as a team. You know how impossible it is to stay alive with the sniper when everyone is randomly running around.
Maybe you have an annoying voice or something…? I know if I simply can’t stand someone’s voice I’ll mute them even if they are using good call outs… Sorry I just can’t take it, it throws off my whole game if I’m focusing too much on someone’s ridiculous voice
The thing is, 9 times out of 10, your call out is useless. Unless there are a full team of friends all talking to each other and planning attacks it doesn’t matter what you call out. Me and my friend might agree to attack a certain point but that’s 2 people agreeing on something, makes no difference
OP must be new to online gaming, specifically FPS’s. Find a clan/Spartan company and roll with them, randoms are not the answer your looking for.

I think you might be the new one…Halo 2 and 3 were always full of people talking. How quite Halo 5 games are now is a NEW thing. This goes for other games too. Back when CoD MW was out, everyone had a mic.

People don’t talk because of all the fail videos, etc… If I talk, and people think I sound weird, or I say something that everyone thinks is dumb, there will be no end to the mockery. If I talk myself up and get creamed in the game, there’ll be no end to the mocking comments. If I use my mic, will the other players turn out to be COD 8 year olds who think its cool to swear every 5 seconds, or sing the latest stupid song on the radio?
The list goes on as to why people prefer to mute people with mic and why they refuse to use their own.
This is also my biggest reason as to why I prefer coop if I play with other people…and usually with people I know (aaaah insert split screen whine here). Now, if I play Halo 5 online, I’ve only gone to war zone because the maps are too big and there are too many players and AI to care about my individual performance. I haven’t been able to play coop online yet. :’( (Does it have a find and join random campaign? Or make my own public?)

or don’t care to get a new one and use that money for a new game or something, because a broken mic isn’t usually game breaking. 
Second thread today about no communication. I feel the same. I’ve sadly given up trying to engage the community both here and on the game. I play all my games without my mic plugged in. Such a shame that the community at large has gone is way.

You can blame it on:
1.- Squeakers that are so sexually proficient they have performed every adult act in the book with your mother.
2.- People that think Xboxlive chat is their personal Karaoke/Radio station.
3.- People that think we enjoy hearing them as they stuff their faces with chips.
4.- Racism being spewed left and right because its the internet.
So yeah.
