I’m 30 now, with a full time career, and a busy life. I was a Junior in college, and working at Game stop when Halo 2 was released. It was a lot of fun working the midnight release, and coming home and immediately playing the game, and having a great time.
Wanting to re-live that fun, I decided to take Tuesday (11/11/14) off of work and go at midnight to pick up my game. Around 2AM is when I started regretting taking PTO from work. When barely anything was downloaded, and still couldn’t play ANYTHING! Then at 4am, still not being about to play Halo 2, or anything online I was furious and went to bed. Woke up around 10AM and jumped on. Everything was done downloading, and I thought I was going to have a good day… I’m aware that you (343) is well aware of issues. From 10AM-11PM I was able to get into 5 multiplayer games, none with my friends actually on my team. Campaign had it’s own mess of problems…
For as complex of a game it was to create, you prematurely rushed and released it. It was an EPIC Fail! I’m more pissed about me taking a personal day off for this garbage. I want some sort of reimbursement for the time wasted on your mistake. I’m held accountable at work for my mistakes, and I think you should be too!
Xbox system would have failed without Halo. Xbox ONE is a garbage system with a unbelievably re -Yoink!- ed interface, and non rechargeable controllers. The ONLY reason I bought one last week was for this release, and Halo 5. I’m completely regretting my decision and am probably going to return everything. 343 really lost me with this instance, and has to do something incredible to get my business back.
As far as I’m concerned, Microsoft Xbox One could be pulled from shelves and I wouldn’t miss it for a second. All you get from a die hard ORIGINAL Xbox, and Halo fan is negative publicity now… Get your -Yoink- together with Logitech too. No G27 on the ONE… Absurd!
hmm well your age 30 and acting like you are 10…and im not sure what you’re career and what not has to do with Halo…all i have to say is take a chill pill and wait…or keep throwing your fits…
I should be compensated for staying up too late playing the CE campaign. Now I’m tired. 343 has no sense of social responsibility. Preying on those of us with obsessive personalities by making deliberately addictive games is just criminal.

I feel your pain, I bought the Xbox one for this title, and both are terrible with great potential. Still, I spent 700 dollars and took a day off to relive some halo 2 glory days and NEVER foind a match. What a waste of time.

Make sure you return forza and sunset while you are at it… By now you should know that launch titles are a thing of the past, every big multiplayer game has issues with servers at launch. Hell, halo 2 had issues at release 10 years ago. I always figured thats why they launch Tuesday, so things can get fixed for the weekend.
I’m allowed to be dissatisfied with the work of a company and rant about it. I should be able to trust that they’ve done their homework, and gotten all their work done to release a game and have it work somewhat properly. If they knew it had a 15gig update, and hours of downloading prior to playing they should have released it Monday at 5pm. No one would have been playing until yesterday anyways! I’m not asking you ney-sayers to comment, let alone read my thread.
It’s supposed to be for adults who remember the good ole days of LAN parties and the birth of Xbox Live, and how much fun it was. Online gaming has advanced to where people take it for granted. All we’re trying to do is re-live the good memories. Kids don’t even remember what it’s like not being able to save a game, having to play through an entire game of sonic the hedgehog from start to finish!

I agree with these guys. And for everyone saying get over it is only stating a company can put out something that should be enjoyable and work properly should just be given a pass and it should be almost expected by you that they should have this many problems. I do hope 343 is trying to do everything they can to remedy these problems but I can’t see if this game was tested at all how most of the non-matching making issues should be fixed. I really do want to play and enjoy this game like I originally bought it for. I foolishly bought an Xbox One just for this game last Thursday because I wasn’t even going to get an Xbox One but a PlayStation 4 and not for a couple of years. But like these gentlemen have said I waited in line for Halo 2 ten years ago and it was one of my favorite games of all time and had spent countless hours playing it online (even with the standbyers and other cheaters that were so frequent back in the day). I took this week off (I had some time to use but didn’t necessarily had to use it) and didn’t wait for any Black Friday deals just because I wanted to play this on release day and have all those wonderful memories and fun back from when I first played it and playing with my friends like in the “good old days”. It’s not just a “toy” but memories and having fun. I could have used the money for more Christmas presents for my daughter. I should have know it wasn’t going to be good when on the first day I couldn’t even play it because it required a 20gb download to even start.
Why shouldn’t he take a day off for a game? Gaming is one of my biggest passions, taking a day off to play one sounds like a dream to me. If it’s not your thing then that’s fine but don’t sit here and tell him he shouldn’t take off because it’s “just a game”. Someone could say the same for taking off to go to a sports game, or anything for that matter. I actually took off for monday night football but it coincided with Halo so that was a bonus (turned out not to be).
It’s too late for me to return my Xbox, and the Game… Couldn’t get into ANY matches yesterday, I sure hope the update on Wednesday makes the game playable.
Or if anyone is interested in a New White Xbox One, with Horizon 2, Halo MCC, and Sunset OD in the NE Ohio Region, let me know! It will be on craigslist soon!
