Just recently started a new account to play H3 for the first time since Reach came out. 1st impression was: “Wow, this game is SOOOO much better than Reach!!!”. Then, I got up to a level 45 and the cheating begins. De-rankers everywhere.
There’s like 1,000 people in Team Slayer and people still de-rank and boost! LMAO. One of my teammates kept running in to me, then jumping off of the map and it counted as a betrayal since I touched him. He did this to everyone on the team until he booted us all! ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! Just play the damn game people, it’s so much more enjoyable.
yes if you play lvl 50 high in Ranked team slayer yes you will run across a lot of derankers. More than half the reason I quit playing ranked and now play on another account to just play social slayer and BTB with friends. While players might not be as ‘good’ in social at least they don’t lose on purpose like players in ranked do.
If Halo 3 had just ONE simple filter to detect derankers ranked would be perfect again. Sadly derankers were formed later in the lifespan of halo 3 so said ban filter was not added into the game.
Halo 3 History lesson time! =) For those that want a good read into deranking and how it began.
Deranking all started due to this thing known as second acounters. In 2008 the second accounters be came prevalent. Players making new and more new accounts going into ranked and working their way through the ranking system over and over in hopes of getting lvl 50 or just having more lvl 50 accounts. Eventually some sad sap found a way to ‘trick’ the system into making them think they were ‘bad’ so they could rank up to 50 faster. So after hundreds of losses trueskill thought that player was really bad. So when that ‘bad’ account got put with a ‘new’ account a whole new form of circumventing began: boosting. Everytime that bad player won a game that new accoutn was given much trueskill rank becasue the game expected them to lose and almost never win. Once the player on the new account got to lvl 50 by beating a few 45’s and 47’s the deranking accoutn would lose a ton of matches again and restart the cycle.
You hate it? well I got news for you all, you are actually part of it whether you want to be or not. Every time you go into Ranked matchmaking and see a lvl 34 something and 49+ paired together on your team chances are they are boosting. By that lvl 34 being on your team you are essentially being ‘boosted’ too because the game thinks your team will lose. More times than not that ‘bad’ looking lvl 34’s outperform everyone in your match with a +10 k/d and top on the scoreboard and you see that other player’s 49 go to a magical 50.
I have several accounts at 50 and a few at 49 I literally stopped playing on because I go so sick of the deranking and the lame boosting. I’ve been with halo 3 since the beginning and when I mean beginning I mean Sept 25, 2007 midnight release. I’ve seen it all and heard it all and I have to agree with you fine people. Deranking sucks … it probably is what killed ranked matchmaking for Reach and worst yet Halo 4 may still not have it. Bungie and 343 saw what happened and sadly I feel gave up on ranked visible trueskill for fear of this type of circumventing again. We have passed a great era in games where we could visibly see a player’s skill and rank … those days are gone folks. We now have to tread through 100 matches in reach just to find one lobby here the players it matches us with are trueskill lvl 50’s.
the only fact I see presented in your post is looking at your Halo 3 service record. You barely played the game and have no concept of skill in Halo 3 and how it compares to reach. Why are you browsing the Halo 3 forums if you don’t like the game?
You don’t belong in this superior section of the forum if you think halo 3 is worse than Reach. We don’t take kindly to traitors of the original halo trilogy. We are the arbiters of Halo and when halo 4 comes out the heretics (players who abandoned Halo 3 for derp reach) will be destroyed.
