People quitting matches.

Is anyone else having people quit in middle of matches? Shouldn’t 343 up the punishment for this?

Feedback please!!!

Yes, it’s a pretty common issue. If people aren’t having fun they will quit. I’m not justifying it, just saying why it happens. They value their own fun over yours.

Agree with you, quit is a problem… Just an FYI there are about a thousand threads on this already, not much response from 343 however…

On one hand, if the punishment is upped to something serious, these players may quit altogether. So yes, there’d be fewer/no quitters, but the population would take a hit too. Not everyone that quits is a serial quitter. Others are.

Yes, I have quit a match from time to time. I’m no saint. However, the matches I quit were almost always after I had already lost teammates. Should I still be punished in that scenario? Even if teammates have quit before I did and the game is a lost cause?

Just explain your reasoning. I’ll listen.

I’m pretty tired of it. I haven’t quit a single match. And the majority of the time it’s my own team, because how imbalanced matchmaking is. Pretty much the fault of the Ranking system. I’m Diamond 2, I really shouldn’t be, I’m stuck with what feels like a bunch of MLG players, and I just wouldn’t mind to play casually instead of competitively for once. I hope they sometime EVENTUALLY implement some sort of Social Play Lists. Cough Like Halo Reach’s and Halo 3’s Cough But, seeing as I don’t see if 343i has really been listening to really anyone lately. But…that’s just my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback guys. 343 really needs to do something about this as it is becoming a common issue. Give them a 30min to 1 hour ban from all playlists if they quit.

How do you know if they quit or got disconnected? I just got disconnected and lost a rare boost.

Other times I’ve quit isn’t because I was losing. It was because some children or bro-dudes wouldn’t shut. the. f. up. I want to have fun, not get a migraine.

Not going lie I’ve quit a few but not going keep playing matches that start off 3v4 or 10 sec in someone quits or you have afk player just standing around.

Esp once it becomes 2v4 or even worse 1v4. No one wants to just feed other team kills and die over n over on spawn while other team just tea bags you and then message you saying you suck etc.

i play lay game to have fun not to feed someone else kd

Halo 5 has the harshest quit penalties in the history of the franchise. They get longer the more you quit, a first for Halo. What more can they do?

What are the details on this?

I would like to know the details on this as well.

I am not saying everyone quits because they are loosing. Not all people who quit have control over it. Maybe there connection went out.

But I dont think the people who did not finish the game should get away unscathed. Look at some of the people quiting played games. You will see some that took 15 matches to place because the matches they were loosing they would just quit and it didnt go against there 10 game placement. In the end they get placed higher because they only let the games they won count. SOme may have deserve that level, others may not and are now stuck in a class where they are getting domintaed, which then makes others quit. Its a viscous cycle I say. I say stick with the bans, but after say 2 DNF’es in a 24 hour period those DNF turn into losses. Maybe each quit after 2 DNF count as 2 losses each.

Do they punish players after the 3rd or 4th time they quit? And does it have to be within a certain time period? if that’s the case no one will ever get banned. They can quit one match, go to play 4 more, quit again and never get punished. I played yesterday evening and had two players quit on me. Getting out of hand…

343 should add rewards and medals for staying in 3v4 games. Or they should implement a mercy rule for for games with unequal players, ending the game when a team is losing by so much.

One idea 343 could take from games like Heroes of the Storm is that if some quits then they should be only able to rejoin that match until it is over and if the game finishes before the player decides join to back, match them with other players who have quit a game, until they finish one game. Although with the current Halo population, there might not be enough players to implement this kind of solution. The Mercy rule and rejoin options would fare far better.

Punishing people harshly for leaving games doesn’t necessarily work very well. Halo has had quitters for as long as I’ve been playing. Halo’s matchmaking is very much so in the state of the US criminal system. It’ll come down on you hard if you quit, but that does stop the problem.

Meanwhile in Star Wars: Battlefront, i wish people would quit more often so i can join my friends game! lol

I have wanted this for so long in a Halo game. Sometimes instead of just brutally getting destroyed just decline the match because you’re outnumbered or outgunned. It will still be a loss but you won’t be punished.

how about, when someone quits and the game is in stage you can’t recover from, the leading player on the losing team gets the option to forfeit?

I totally agree with this. As for serial quitters, especially in BtB, the ban should be up upped

Sometimes the connection is lost rather than quitting that as happened to me more than once, even when we have a massive lead, So it would be wrong to punish those people and it would be hard to tell the difference. It does wind me up being out numbered but not much can be done apart from allowing player to join the game mid-match.

It’s those players that don’t even start the game get me, a simple " ready to play " button would solve that problem ?

A post about quitters, haven’t seen one of them for a while!

It happens, it’s annoying and drives you mad deal with it and move on. Don’t think 343 are interested it won’t impact on their profits as people are still buying the game and playing it.
