People quitting at the beginning of a match

  • It is a problem for people who are trying to get into a match. When you have people that quit at the beginning of a match so they don’t lose any rank. Because they think they are going to lose to you or your teammate.

  • One way to fix this problem is to punish players that quit the match. By them leaving the match they forfeit and it counts as a defeat and they will lose rank.

  • Or when the player leaves he or she is replaced with a Heroic difficulty AI player, Until someone else joins the match. And than the AI player is replaced with the joining player.

  • You could also have unranked playlists just like the MCC ( Master Chief Collection ). For players who just want have fun and don’t care if they win or lose.

I think you fail to realize that sometimes quitting at the start is the only choice some people have.

Every 3rd or 4th game, I need to quit back to the dashboard because my game will freeze with the “waiting for players banner”. While other plays are moving and playing, I am stuck on the waiting for players banner.

Sometimes people need to quit a game due to real life. Repeated quits should be punished, but, a single quit should be forgiven.

I assume you are giving some suggestions for the final game?

As the beta had numerous crashing/freezing/other bug problems, and you know, there’s no point of enforcing any penalties in a open beta.

Played 7 games today and was 1v2 in all of them apart from 1 game. Its almost impossible to win a game when you’re playing against 160v80 units.

The “waiting for players” message isn’t a game freeze…its literally waiting for players and usually caused by someone that has quit. If you wait a few minutes then the game starts either 2v2 or more often than not because one of the players has decided not to play for whatever reason. If you’re quitting at this stage then you’re actually part of the problem is causing the 1v2 situations.

I’ve had the same issue several times now. Before it happened to me, I thought the other player quit before the game started, only to realize he was stuck on that screen and left the game. It is a Beta and we are all learning as we go. Restart and try again.

I’ve had instances where my ally left mid-game and that’s a real problem that has nothing to do with 343 but people quitting. I hope the full game allows the player left behind to raise their population when another player leaves mid-game. It will help tremendously.

I also moved the game from my external HD into the Internal HD and it runs better.

I play the beta with my brother, who is in the same room, on a seperate TV. Sometimes, when I get that message, my brother is able to move units and build. I am literally the only player that is stuck.

Fair enough…thats pretty conclusive evidence if true so not going to disagree with you on that one! lol

I can only give examples of my own experiences, and I find the game goes to the “waiting for other players” screen when a player has quit. Obviously I have no idea if players on the other team have started building already or not.

Yup,same problem here throughout the beta and it took them 3 GB just to fix the start screen crashing and freezing. People aren’t always uitting out of matches because they’re afraid they’ll lose a rank they won’t even get to keep in the shipping game. This beta is exactly that,a beta which happens to be full of bugs, this one, being perhaps the most annoying because when you have to quit out to the dashboard, you lose ranking. I hope that gets fixed too.
