People playing social like ranked.

Now let me be the first to say that I understand people like doing good in games so they’re going to do whatever it takes to get that kill, or win. Although, from what I understand, social playlists are designed to chill out and have fun in, its for people that aren’t in the mood to play sweaty matches. Still, that doesn’t stop people from ghandi hopping and crouch strafing like crazy in games like btb or super fiesta like they’re in ranked game modes. Any one agree? Thanks for reading!

Back in the days when I played with teams like 80% of the time, we used to warm up in social games before going in to ranked playlist. You know, warming up and working on our skills/try different jumps etc.

I think people still do that. And if you’re above average in Halo, you’re not gonna take it easy just because you’re playing social. Killing players with less experience is fun ofc, like in all games. I know social is for social, like you said. But it doesn’t work like that, especially not in Halo 5.

There are probably a ton of different reasons for people tryharding in social and this is one of them.

This is Halo 5, the game was forced with competitive except for action sack

One of the main reasons why I put the game down for good, people sweat in this game like the game is their life, Halo 3 I remember was always layed back all the time, Halo 5 is just forced competitive

Edit
Had to edit Infection out of comment since I’m getting told it’s sweaty apparently

Always laid back when I play it, but I dunno man, gotta agree with them apparently

I play to win no matter what playlist I am in except warzone. Warzone (either regular, firefight or turbo) I may not necessarily play to win every time. As sometimes for fun I will give myself rules like only use random req cards or no reqs only load outs, or can’t shoot at all only splatters in vehicles.

If your main and favorite playlist is in social, does that mean you should only play it a certain way because it’s not ranked? The answer is no. It may be odd to see in certain playlists, but people can play how they want.

I see your point, it’s just annoying hopping into fiesta or btb just to chill and there’s people playing like they’re in the halo championships lol

I’m glad someone agrees with me, it seeme like every game mode is filled with people playing like their lives depend on it

Like I said, I understand people play to win and like to do good, I just don’t see the appeal in sweating in game modes that are meant for pure fun, sweating just takes the fun out of it for players that are going to social for what it’s meant for

I’m not saying people can’t play how they want, I’m saying social is meant for having fun and getting away from the sweaty games. Obviously there are players better than others in social, but man there’s some people even in action sack that go full on tryhard, its like dude calm down it’s only for fun, ya know? That’s the point im trying to get across.

This may sound kinda selfish but I really don’t care about other players fun. I play what and how I feel is fun for me.

I suppose that’s just your competitive side lol

If someone is screaming callouts and getting pissed off in Action Sack, then yeah that might be excessive, but someone just sweating in a playlist trying to win calmly could be their way of having fun which you seemed to imply people can’t have when sweating in your response to LethalQ.

Also, you might not know this, but you should try not to post multiple times back-to-back in a row or you could get in trouble for it.

Halo has always been a competitive game to me, even in the “social” playlist.

Lmao no, I’m not implying people can’t have fun. I even said in my statement I understand people like to do good in games. All I’m saying is in games like action sack and fiesta, I think its a bit unnecessary for people to go full on tryhard in game modes strictly meant for fun. This post was only meant to see if people agree with me that people play like theyre in ranked in social, it’s strictly for me to see if people share my opinion. And thats all it is, an opinion.

In past versions we had competitive BTB modes whether they were ranked or Clan matches. Nothing has been more fun to me than those days. Until 343 implements a decent 8v8 competitive mode, BTB in social is going to be a constantly rancid melting pot of groups that are competetive, beginners, quitters, afk, casuals, etc. It’s a mess and all types of players aren’t getting what they want.

I feel Halo 5’s movement system is to blame for how frequently intense and competitive it feels. I was a player who ran mlg customs and competed in online rounds and eventually LANs during h2 - reach and playing competitively back then felt like it had more breathing room, than playing casually in 5. 5-6 movement options off spawn more than before makes the game feel more claustrophobic, i just feel a dude gandhi hopping, sk strafing and strongsiding is nowhere near as ‘in your face’ as a dude chaining movement strings together.

How could someone stop doing maneuvers/techniques or hold back skills which are practically instinct - second nature.

You want them to consciously hold back…lol?

I mean, I’ll go into Social Playlists and kick back to enjoy my time there, but I can’t just stop playing the game like I averagely would. I’m not saying I play the game overly competitively or get mad while playing any social playlist, but I can’t help if I do well in a game by playing by instinct. I walk around, I crouch jump, I strafe, I’ll give the occasional callout on a powerup. I can’t just stop basically playing the game the way I always have since CE and dumb myself down.

How do you know people in social playlists are playing “sweaty” or “tryhard”, and aren’t just significantly better than you? Maybe the games you feel like the enemies are tryhards are just games where you got matched with someone who is 1 or 2 skill tiers above you, so to them killing you is easy and they aren’t trying hard at all, while you are trying extra hard and getting nowhere.

Are you saying you want social playlists to have more even matches with more priority in skill-based matchmaking, so that you don’t get paired up with people better than you? Or maybe you want the opposite, where skill-based matchmaking is turned off completely in social playlists? Or are you saying you want people to play social playlists a certain way, like not playing objectives and just horsing around? I always find it interesting how people define “sweaty” and “tryhard”, because most of the time those terms are thrown out by people who feel like they are losing too much. To me, social playlists don’t mean don’t try to win, or don’t play seriously. The benefit of social playlists is that you can play without worrying about public rank or stats. If you lose a social game, it’s not that stressful. But what social games are not to me are places to horse around like custom games. And even social playlists need skill based matchmaking because if you turn it off, then the bottom percentile of players will always lose and the top will always win, instead of the system trying to get everyone’s win/loss ratio as close to 50% as possible.

The game just isn’t meant to be played for “fun”. It’s competitive through and through. They can try their hardest to put social gamemodes in, but the core is competitive, so it will always feel sweaty. The only playlist that isn’t that way is Super Fiesta, IMO. It’s the only playlist I can go into and just screw around in and have it feel fun.
