PEOPLe playing halo now make it not worth playing

I am fed up with the jerks that play Halo now. Every time i play anymore it’s one of four scenarios.

  1. Someone quits
  2. Someone cheats
  3. Someone betrays you on purpose
  4. The matchmaking matches you with players that far out-rank you.

I’m sick of having to submit a player review to avoid someone for the above reasons after every game. I love Halo, its a great game but the community now just sucks. Thanks for sucking the fun out of it people. Maybe when Halo 4 comes out some of the people that are fun to play with will come back. plz

Mostly true, but I highly doubt you’ve ran into any cheaters.

99.9999% of the time “Cheaters” are simply lagging, not consciously cheating. Basically, the way lag compensation works, just because you see something happen on your screen(bloodshot!) doesn’t mean it actually happened for anyone else.

Still frustrating, though.

Sorry =( I will try harder.

You have not played cheaters.

Quitters I agree with, the current penalty is laughable. Not just in “severe-ness” but by very design, it punishes the remaining players more than the initial quitter.

That’s Reach.

It’s clear 343 can’t and/or aren’t willing to change certain aspects of the game so there is no point playing if you aren’t having fun.

Time to move onto another game, there’s plenty of good games out there just look at Reach’s woeful population for proof of that.

i played with a a cheater recently

his guest had a rank and a mic and he zoomed up to the top of spire with unlimited jetpack and with a DMR got instant one shot headshots from practically outside the map

he single handedly killed my team over 50 times before i got annoyed and quit, for half that fight i didnt understand what was going on until i saw him in the sky not moving

no amount of lag can cause that

Agree with opening post.

One important aspect which I feel you forgot to mention was the K/D whores who utterly ignore the spirit of the game in favor of their own personal ‘glory’.

The main culprits are the clans (not all clans, some clans are great to play against) who will set up spawn traps, banshee rape etc. They will hold objectives rather than scoring so that they can prolong the misery. I’d say at least 50% of quitters quit due to spawn raping, banshee -Yoink!- etc. Many quit as soon as they see a party of 8 high rankers in the pre-game lobby because they are so sick of such tactics.

I don’t advocate quitting, but I understand why the casual gamer who gets home after a hard day’s work, cracks a beer and turns on his x-box does not want to be repeatedly and mercilessly killed within 2 seconds of spawn. It’s not fun and at the end of the day people play the game to have fun.

Tracking players individual K/D was a major mistake IMHO. It discourages egotistical players from sacrificing themselves for that all important 1 second flag grab and encourages spawn raping, banshee -Yoink!- and other such -Yoink–jerkery. I think this aspect has been a major factor in the deterioration in the quality of the matchmaking community.

I agree, That’s why Objective gametypes should have separated stats, and be Cr rewarded.
About quitting, it’s kind of a vicious circle : your team quit, you find yourself spawn killed for 10 mins., you quit… Sometimes I think quit ban should be removed, so at least averyone can quit and just find another game without being penalized.

I’m going to give you some short simple advice man.

If your not having, then it’s not for you. Don’t pressure your self into stressful situation, just play the things you like man. Halo is cool and all but anxiety and stress are not.

Play something else for about a week and come back. You’ll feel great.

I suggest finding players here on Waypoint where you have a common bond to form a more reliable team or room.
I also suggest not forming a team because you all hate the same things. If you form a team because you all like the same things, your synergy will flow more fluidly.

How can you cheat? Quitters can get annoying, but over all i dont find this to be too big of an issue.

Meh, its just one of those default flaws with worldwide gaming. You get to see EVERY kind of gamer.

I’ve done my fair share of rage quits as well as spawn traps, it just happens…

The only time I understand quitting is when people are spawn killing and prolong the misery by holding the objective. If you spawn kill but plant the bomb or capture the flag in 30 seconds, I applaud you, you are a good team, but if you take the flag, then spend 15 minutes killing the other team to pad your stats, you are a stat -Yoink!- and I do not respect you. I have avoided big team recently due to me being matched with many stat -Yoink!- teams. I don’t remember this being as much of a problem in past Halos, but Big Team is the worst playlist for these types of games.

Host Migration is AGGRIVATING! I hate it when I get a really good spree, someone quits then I DIE!!! Why 343 Why?

By cheating, I mostly mean the people who kill their own team mates or help kill them to help their buddies who happened to be placed on the other team by matchmaking. Rarely have I come across someone who is mod-ing, but it has happened. I love the whole Halo series, but it seems its only worth playing online for the first 6 months or so after the newest one comes out. After that, most of what’s left are Jerks.

lately I’ve run into the type of players who get 1 kill a match, but after that one kill they will -Yoink!- that corpse for the rest of the match. even after they die, they go back to the same spot and do this again.

and I’ve also run into a lot of parties that get split up. like in swat or team death match you get 3 guys on one team and one guy gets put on the other team. the the lone wolf guy just betrays his mates on purpose to help his buddies on the other side.

Bungie created Reach not 343.

It was a known problem in earlier Halo games but once again Bungie adopted their “holier than thou” approach and didn’t acknowledge it let alone resolve it.

That’s because the number of casual players rapidly decreases and the remaining people are sometimes skilled but for the most part good at exploiting game mechanics and Reach is full of flawed and overpowered mechanics to exploit.

I’ve played with people that were good sports in earlier Halo games but now exclusively grief and spawn kill in Big Team Battle. I don’t have any of said people on my friends list any more as I don’t derive joy from ruining others game experience and uncompetitive matches.

rank in reach has absolutely no meaning whatsoever about that players skill, it just means that person has played a lot
