Ever sense 343i has allowed players to leave a game at no cost and to join mid game I can not play a game without people leaving. Almost every game I play someone quits before the game starts or right at the beginning of the game. Every so often when i am looking for a game to play I get dropped into a game half way over on the loosing team. I feel they need to deter leaving games like they did back in Halo 3. Back in those games every game was fought to the end by everyone because no one wanted to loose xp. It really just annoys me how people leave games causing balancing issues and stopping the game to switch the server and also have an option to turn off drop in battles before you search. Does anyone else have a problem with this; or is it just me?
Every one on the forums. Don’t worry, this started since Reach and they ruined every freaking match.
I feel your frustration! I’m right there with you. There should be a 5 minute penalty for dropping out of a game early. Similarly the people who just join games and sit there the ENTIRE GAME and do nothing. There should be some sort of idle timer, where if your controller has no input for a certain amount of time you get booted. Hell, even campers look around once in a while. People getting free XP by joining a game and walking away from the controller is insane!
I think Gears of War 3 had it right; If you quit you lose 1 match worth of XP. This system is simple and actually punishes quitters.
If people quit in the beginning, it’s usually because they got a gametype or map they really hate. I don’t blame them, whenever I got stuck with SWAT or Snipers in Reach, I just flat out quit. I refuse to play something I truly find to be an agonizing experience.

That sounds completely fair to me!
In Halo 3 if you left you lost an XP point, they should do something like that.
i leave when its lagging, thats not playable if i would punished, i wil also leave. so a punishment like this wouldnt change anything. who wants to quit will quit.
