People lack faith because of 343's logic

A lot of you guys preach to “wait until the game is out”, and “trust 343 they know what they’re doing”.

For a lot of us that is hard and not even because of what has been announced or shown, it’s what 343 SAYS.

Every time they talk about the game they just sound like the they have no idea what they’re talking about. Reading their posts from neogaf or other forums(god forbid they post on their own forums) is mindboggling. Their logic resembles that of your average full hyabossy staff captain from the halo 3 forum on Bnet. The logic and understanding of game mechanics is so brutal it actual blows your mind. Like you don’t even know how to begin to respond.

That is why a lot of people have trouble putting faith in this game and 343 right now.

They’re being cryptic. Not giving anything away.

Why do you want to ruin the surprise party!?

Completely agree.

No, they’ve shared their logic behind several gameplay elements and quite frankly it was laughable each time.

I literally laughed.

Lots of people are going around and hitting on any implementation to Halo 4 that resembles mechanics and gameplay features of [Fish], despite this [Fish] never having invented such features.

Even if Halo 4 turns out to be a smooth and fun game, these people will continue hammering it simply because it has this and that in it.

It sounds like they have no idea what they are talking about… I really don’t agree with that. In fact, In any interview I’ve seen with any 343-er (such as Joh Holmes, Frank O’Conner, Kiki Wolfkill, David Ellis, etc) they really seem like not only they know what they are talking about, but as if they have worked on specified answers for certain questions. They are trying to reveal things on a certain time table. I’m already impressed at how well they have kept Halo 4 in the dark for so many years. They say “trust us” because they can’t tell us yet and sure even after release people may not like Halo 4, you can’t please everyone. It would be absolute madness to even try.

Also I don’t even know what logic your referring to is laughable. Give an example to support your claim.

Dude, you can live with Halo4 being a bad game, or not even existing.

Their logic regarding sprint in on of their weekly updates was hilarious.

“Sprint was the most used AA so we made it default and now you can use 2 AAs so there’s even more AA usage” was a good one too. I literally thought that was a joke for a while.

That’s funny? You have a crappy sense of humour…

  1. It WAS the most popular.

  2. Default Sprint makes the game move faster and lets other AA’s have the spotlight.

  3. There will be more AA usage as most of the time Sprint was picked, letting the others gather dust.

Just don’t buy the game, I’d hate to run into you online. I really would.

Nothing wrong with sprint. Try to run from a fight → get shot in back and slow down. Sprint as an AA could sometimes be a hinder when not used. Reach base movement was slow, and depending on the map it was not a very nice situation to be in.

H4 base movement is also H3-inspired.

The logic behind making Sprint native was to get more usage out of the other AAs that in comparison, were quite underused. Especially holograms since the decoy was not only unconvincing to a majority of players, you were left with no means to boost nerfed jump height or speed.

With Sprint being a native ability, the other AAs can see more usage. Otherwise, what’s the point in having them? At this point, Sprint has to return or it’s going to be seen as a step backwards. Same goes with the other AAs and while i am not the biggest fan of these ideas and prefer a simpler Halo, then i’ll just adapt and let my gun do the talking. Better player wins and all that jazz.

The Reach Sprint was bad because there was no stopping power or game mechanic that punished players while being shot mid sprint. Increased kill times were inevitable because players could run away and recharge shields.

Plus double derping was also annoying and unskillful tactic that many players used thanks to the lack of stopping power. Plus the Melees and Sword had way to much Lunge, which made the Sprint/Evade even more OP.

I saw a few times in E3 footage a player running away and trying to double derp. Thanks to the new stopping power, both instances the player died like they should. It should always be running away > gets shot> dies.

I’d call 343’s answer to that question bad wording, not at all bad logic. It makes complete sense.

My reaction in a nutshell

No wait it was this:

That’s your “laughable” quote? You thought it was a joke? I’m inclined to believe that your thinking process is also a joke since it’s hard to believe believe that you had no idea what they meant by that one sentence (it’s literally right there)

Actually, Reach had stopping power in sprint that wasn’t designed-in, but caused by the physics impulse from weapon hits (the same reason a couple of Spartans with DMR’s can flip a warthog) which throws off sprint. I noticed it just a week ago playing through the campaign, where about 3 elites and 10 or so grunts, one with a turret, were shooting at me. If you’re not in a situation like this, though, you barely slow down when shot in Reach.

Halo 4’s stopping power effect looks good, but not too drastic (I like how it compounds, slowing a player down further the more damage they take).

Their logic might not be the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. However, at times I feel that the way they describe things are done so in the worst possible way. ‘It feels like Halo’ should be illegal to describe a game’s overall vibe with.

He has posted one, it’s just an awful example. If that’s all he has to go by, the OP really can’t back up his argument.
