For a few months now, I’ve noticed that when i join games, there are people that I’ve never played with before that are already muted. I try to unmute them, but sometimes after unmuting them they still have the circle with a cross through it (the muted symbol) next to their gamertag. Please will someone explain this to me…
There is an option to mute all players. I’m assuming they have this enabled; usually for a parental control reason.

might be a mute ban? you know, where they can’t talk or something…
I might be mistaken, but when a player is muted by a significant number of others, they appear to be muted by everyone. I normally un-mute people on my team just for communication purposes. After we win, they get muted again, and life goes on.
Its because of MLG everyone mutes the other team and so the system thinks they need to be muted

Its the mute ban. 99% of the time its because they have played in MLG, and everyone in MLG appears to be simply too stupid to just set voice to team and party only instead of manually muting the entire other team every single game, which as time goes on has resulted in everyone who regularly plays MLG becoming perma-muted for no good reason.

I hate the mute bans. Every single person in the MLG playlist is mutebanned, so teamwork is nonexistent.

A majority of people keep the enemies muted and unmute their team for MLG if they are mute banned.
